I stop abruptly just before running into Thomas. I go to speak, but he covers my mouth with his hand. I look between him and Minho questioningly.
"Griever." Minho whispers. I completely freeze, not daring to even let out a breath in fear for my life. Minho slowly peeps his head around the corner, then jerks it back. "It's just sitting there, like the dead one we saw."
"What do we do? Is it coming towards us?" Thomas asks, causing me to mentally facepalm.
"No, Idiot, I just told you it was sitting there."
"Jeez, stop it," They turn to look at me, "what do we do?"
"We have to go that way to get to the section. Let's just wait it out and if it comes for us we'll run for the Glade." He looked around the corner again. "Crap, it's gone, let's go." Minho takes off in a sprint and Thomas and I follow.

My mind wonders to what I promised Newt just before coming out here, "If there's even a bit of danger I will come right back, I promise." Well that promise didn't take long to break, I am practically staring death in the face and not once have I thought of turning back.

Everytime we came to a corner, Minho would het us to stop so he could check for the Griever. And every corner he whispered to us that he saw the creature rounding a corner.
After 10 minutes, we were running through the long corridor that lead to the Cliff. Minho stopped so suddenly, Thomas crashed into him, I mamaged to stop just before. Thank you me for being slow. I followed Minhos gaze, up ahead the Griever had dug it's spikes into the ground and continued rolling forward and straight off the Cliffs edge. Plunging into the grey abyss.
"Well, that settles it then." Minho said as we walked towards the Cliff.
"Settles what?" I asked. Minho turned to Thomas.
"We've seen this happen three times now, something's up."
"Yeah." Thomas agreed. I raised an eyebrow, when Minho finally noticed I had no idea what he was talking about, he explained.
"The dead Griever i found came this way, and I never saw it come back, then there was the ones we tricked the other night."
"I don't think it was much of a trick now." Thomas interrupted.
"Not much doubt anymore. Somehow the Grievers can leave the Maze this way. Seems like magic, but so does the sun disappearing."
"Wait, if they can leave this way," The boys turned to look at me, "Then maybe we can." Minho let out a light laugh.
"I see you have a death wish like Greenie. Wanna have a candlelit dinner with them too while we're at it?"
"Got any better ideas?" Thomas asked.
"One thing at a time, let's get some rocks and test this thing out. There has to be some kind of hidden exit."

So that's what we did. We did a couple rounds through the Maze to find some rocks then made our way back to the Cliff. We sat at the Cliffs edge with our feet dangling over the edge. I reluctantly looked down, thankful for the fact that all we could see was a grey abyss cause I am terrified of heights. (Sorry if you don't, i do so i kind of just added that in) Minho pulled out his pad and pencil for note taking, and he told us to remember as much as possible.
"Okay, let's take turns throwing them, zigzagging them back and forth. Hopefully, if there is some magical exit, it'll work with rocks too and make them disappear." Thomas picked up a rock and threw it, I followed, then Minho. We kept throwing them, paying close attention when they fell.
I started getting discouraged when rock after rock kept falling and didn't seem to disappear. We began to give up, but then my rock disappeared. I shot up in disbelief. It actually worked. One minute it was there, then gone, it just vanished.
"We've thrown stuff off the Cliff before, can't believe we missed that." Minho said. "Not once did I see anything disappear."
"Do it again." Thomas insisted. I grabbed another rock and threw it where i threw the last one, almost in the center of the cliffs area. We all started throwing rocks in that area, trying to find out how big the 'magical portal' was. After a few more turns we determined it was only about a metre square.
"No wonder you missed it," I said after a moment of silence. "The Griever must barely be able to fit through it."
Once Minho finished his diagram, we put our rucksacks on and started running our normal route again.
"We'll tell Newt and Alby tonight." Minho informed us. I zoned out as we continued to run, Thomas did all the note-taking and vine-cutting, making it easier for me to stay zoned out. We reached the final dead end and ran back to the Glade.

When we got back, everything was sombre. No one seemed to care that I just came out of the Maze with Minho and Thomas. Minho headed for the map room and we followed. I looked up to the sky, nothing had changed. It was still dim, bleak and very grey. I hoped something would change at sunset. There were already other Runners inside the map room, but yet again no one cared that I was here. Only Minho, Newt and Thomas know I'm a runner.  Thomas and I sat down to draw todays map from memory. Minho was correcting us a lot. Once we finished and Minho went off on a tangent about patterns, we finally went to tell Newt and Alby. They were already walking up to us as soon as we left the map room. I go to hug Newt, but stop myself when i notice neither him nor Alby looked happy in the slightest. Alby shot daggers at me with his eyes. Of course, out of all the people here, the only one that actually cared I was a secret Runner, was Alby.
"Get on with it," Alby interrupted Minho as he began to speak. "Ain't got time to waste. Find anything? Anything?" Minho informed him that we actually did find something, and he almost seemed disappointed.
"This place is falling to pieces." Alby said.
"What else happened?" I look at Newt.
"Bloody supplies didn't come up today." We all turned to look at the big steel doors of the box. "No sun for the plants, no supplies from the box. I'd say we're bloody shucked alright." We were all silent for a while, then Minho brought up what we'd found and started explaining it to them.
After a few minutes he'd finished and we were talking more about it when suddenly we heard a commotion breakout at the Homestead. Gladers we're yelling over the top of each other trying to be heard. Chuck was with them and when he saw us, he came running over.
"What's going on?" I asked when he finally reached us.
"She's awake." He yelled. "The girl's awake!" We stood there in shock, Thomas fell back and leaned on the edge of the Map Room. He looked sick. Newt started running for the Homestead and I followed.
"No." He looked at me.
"What?"
"You're not coming to talk to her."
"She's a girl, currently sitting in a room being yelled at by a hundred boys, I think she could really use another girl with her." He reluctantly let me come and we made our way through the crowd and in the Homestead, up to where the girl was.
