"It's you Nayshards! It's your fault our village was attacked!" A boy spotting a crew cut yelled.
"But I didn't do anything!" A small girl with blonde hair complained.
"You must have told them about us, right? Me and Finna! I'm sure of it!" The boy shook his head, angry tears flowing from his eyes. "Now...our village is no more...mum...dad...Finna too..."
The girl's heart ached when she saw her friend in pain like this. Besides having some burns, the sorrow and hatred swirling in his eyes made clear he was suffering inside.
"I'm sorry about what happened, but I really didn't say anything.. "
The girl tried once again to convince her friend."Don't say anything! I'm not going to trust you anymore, Rin!" The boy shouted, causing the girl to take a step, startled.
The girl was starting to tear up too. "But it's the truth! All I know was that my parents were leaving with some other people, and then I only knew of it afterwards!"
The girl could not believe her ears when she heared that Leo's village was attacked by Nayshards, and what was supposed to be another day of fun with her friends turned out to be a quarrel. With one of her friends gone.
"Leo..." The young girl stretched out her hand to try and comfort the crying boy in front of her, but it was slapped away.
"Don't touch me!" The boy glared at her, his eyes completely filled with rage.
His fists shook, and they started to glow.
"It's all because of you...it's all because of the Nayshards...I'm going to kill you!" The boy roared as he pulled his fist back to throw a punch at the girl.
Rin could only cross her arms in front of her and close her eyes shut to brave herself for the impact.
But it never came.
She slowly opened her eyes, and saw that Leo had his fist inches from her, his face full of tears.
"Shit...! I...I can't...you were my friend..."
The girl took notice of the past tense used in the sentence, and she felt like she was suffocating. She knew this was because she felt sad. It happened everytime something miserable happened. The boy in front of her no longer considered her a friend anymore.
"You can't do anything. You're useless." A boy called out.
The two children looked at the third person in the forest, a slightly taller boy with messy blue hair leaning against a tree, his arms crossed in front of his chest. Even at this young age, his charm as a beautiful boy was showing.
"What did you say, Den?" Leo growled.
"I said, you're pathetic. If you hated us so much, you would have punched Rin. Of course, I would have killed you before you could even touch her." The taller boy clicked his tongue and said.
"What are you saying, Den? Killing him?" Rin cried out, shocked that her closest friend would utter such cruel words. Did he not know the importance of taking a life? She herself did not quite get it, but the pain she had felt when she knew Finna was no longer with them told her it was not something one could easily spew out from their mouth.
"Now, get out of my sight if you want to live. I'm giving you ten seconds for Rin's sake. She would be sad if you're dead, but honestly, I can't care less. You can't do anything. You can't avenge your family, you can't be with us. The only choice for you is to run and hide like some rabbit being chased. So off you go." Den rambled on.
"That's harsh, Den! I know we can't be together after all these, but--"
"No buts, Rin." Leo interrupted.
