Shinesh cracked his knuckles, and gave a fearless smile. "You wanted this, Hak. It's been a while since we last had a spar. I won't go easy, though."
Hak returned his smirk. "I'll try not to disappoint," he said sarcastically, his spear in hand.
"Time limit is five minutes. First to stay down lose. All clear, right?" Nimira was the referee.
The two guys nodded, and she announced the start of the fight.
Shinesh kicked off, charging straight at Hak as he materialised his gauntlets in his hands.
Hak swung his spear around and got into position, his spear ready to deflect any blows before they could reach him.
Shinesh ran towards Hak, but at the last minute bent at an angle and got past the blade of Hak's spear, ready to land a blow on Hak. Hak however was quick to react, swinging his spear at Shinesh, and the pole of his weapon smashed into Shinesh's gauntlet, which he raised to block the strike. Although blunt, the pole still packed enough to break a bone if the opponent was careless. Shinesh was forced to stop in his track as he blocked the pole, and Hak used this chance to pull his spear back, such that the blade was drawn back to where Shinesh was.
The contact between the blade and gauntlet drew spark, and with a grunt, Hak pushed Shinesh to the side as he swung the spear with all his might, trying to knock Shinesh off balance.
Shinesh was surprised. He had made an effort to stand his ground, but was still pushed aside.
Seems like Hak's way stronger than he look, eh.
Shinesh had no choice but to roll away from the spear. He looked up just in time to see Hak bring his Torch up, ready to swing it down on him.
"Not so fast!" Shinesh crossed his arms and blocked the spear, letting out an explosion of Light as the two Torches collided.
"Time for some lessons, Hak!" Shinesh grabbed the spear and pulled it towards himself this time, catching a surprised Hak off guard.
Shinesh then slammed a palm into Hak's abdomen, before using both hands to grab him and toss him onto the ground.
"Have you forgotten how we were taught to deal with pole weapons?" Shinesh said.
"Of course not!" Hak coughed, before slashing at Shinesh, who jumped back, creating a gap for Hak to recover and he stood up.
"You're better than this, right? Show me what you've learned while we were almost getting killed out there!" Shinesh yelled and charged at Hak again.
Hak gripped his spear and took his position once more.
"Don't need you to tell me that!"
This time Hak closed in on Shinesh too, and he launched a flurry of stabs at him. Shinesh tried to dodge all of them, but still found himself slowly getting pushed back, deflecting some attacks with his Torch.
However, Shinesh managed to grab onto the spear the moment he saw his chance, and like just now, pulled the weapon towards him
Hak jerked forward as well, but at the last minute he released his grab on the spear, stretching his leg out and knocking Shinesh off balance before his fist could reach Hak.
Hak quickly caught his falling spear once more, swinging it down on Shinesh. However, Shinesh landed on his palm, and swung his leg up to parry the spear at the pole, charging his leg with Spark to reduce the damage.
Hak and Shinesh both grinned at each other, but before they could do anything more, Nimira shouted the end of the designated timing.
"That was pretty refreshing," Hak stretched out his hand and said. "Haven't fought with the Zaki Taiyo practices for a long time."
