"I have something to say," Denire started, but Haruki interrupted.
"Before that, I have something to ask." Haruki jerked a finger at Rinya. "You're Rinya's fiance, right? Then why are you two-timing her?"
"...About that. I apologise." Denire turned to face Rinya, and knelt down on two knees. "I'm sorry, Rinya. I know I've hurt your feelings, and I'm not asking for your forgiveness, but I couldn't help it. That was why I decided to get rid of her before it gets worse."
"No...it's okay...well...you're a Nayshard after all...at least you apologise...do get up, Denire. You're the proud warrior." Tears started rolling down Rinya's cheeks once more as she approached Denire to help lift him up.
Okay my ass. Haruki sighed. Rinya was obviously not alright. Heck, no sane person would be fine with their spouse cheating on them. He looked at Denire. He could not see his expression clearly, so Haruki was not sure whether it was his imagination, but did Denire had a pained expression?
"So, as I was saying, I'm here to say something. It's about the Chosen Vessel...as you've heard from Vivian, Rinya, you were born with a special purpose in life...you were chosen to be the Vessel for the revival of the Goddess."
"The Goddess? You mean the Goddess that created the Nayshards?" Haruki raise his voice in surprise.
Denire clicked his tongue in irritation. "Why, yes."
"Why are you telling this to me too? You could have grabbed Rinya back to your base and tell her that. You're awesomely strong. Strong enough to even kill me." Haruki pressed on.
Denire stared at him coldly. "Glad you know that, Haruki Yamata. But I think you deserve to know it, since you are the one who formed a contract with Rinya."
"You knew?" Rinya asked.
Denire nodded. Haruki was not as surprised. The bad guys always knew everything. At least that was what he learned from shows and books. They knew every single detail about the good guys, so much it was like cheating.
"Well, now that you know, it's time you die."
"What? That's sudden!"
Haruki barely managed to dodge the black snakes made of Darkness thrown at him, cutting his cheek in the process.
He quickly retaliated by shooting arrows back at Denire, who merely threw up a shield of Darkness to block the attack.
"Weak."
Haruki fired a rain of arrow in retaliation to Denire's word. He knew he was weak, and he was barely scratching the surface of his new found weapons, but he was not going to go down without a fight.
But it turned out he was not exactly going down there and then after all.
"Haruki!"
Before Haruki could response, a torrent of Light bullets came raining down on Denire, not giving him a chance to put his shield down. This time it was pushing him back.
"Quick, this way!" Haruki could see Mimi floating in the sky a good distance away, releasing waves after waves of Light bullets from her Sun Wings.
Without thinking, Haruki grabbed Rinya's hand and ran in the direction of Mimi.
"Wait, what are you doing?"
"I'm bringing you with me!" Haruki was not quite sure what he was thinking at that time, but he just wanted Rinya to get away from the Nayshards. Despite her initial outburst, she was not resisting.
When the two of them reached the edge of the debris, Mimi shouted, "Jump right down!"
Haruki spared a quick glance below, and saw a web of Light at the bottom of the building, with somebody rushing around helping out others who had landed on the web.
