Haruki opened his eyes. He blinked for a few moments before rubbing his eyes. Yawning, Haruki stretched his body before looking out of the window, bleary eyed. The Sun was setting in the distance, and merchants were packing up for the day on the streets. It was afternoon at his original world when he arrived at midnight to this world. Haruki did a quick calculation. If he had slept from daybreak to evening, it would be rougly twelve hours. It would be midnght at his place now.

Haruki felt a pang of homesickness as he wondered how his mother was reacting to the fact that his son still had not come home, but he quickly shook those thoughts from his mind. He had found a way to get back, and he would do so as soon as possible.

Haruki got out of bed and opened the door to his room. The shirt and pants the townspeople provided was quite comfortable, but there was an odd smell Haruki could not quite get used to.

"Oh, how are you feeling, Yama?" An elderly woman asked from the kitchen counter.

"I feel much better. Thank you, auntie." Haruki nodded as he took a chair at the dining table. "It smells nice. May I ask what are you making?"

"Some porridge. You must have been very tired, eh? To travel so far to this isolated village." The woman gave a smile with her weathered and wrinkled face and said, "You've slept for very long."

Haruki scratched the back of his head. "Well...yeah."

"Oh and I fixed your clothes. They do look special. I've never seen them before." The granny smiled again before laying a wooden bowl in front of Haruki.

The smell of the food was great, and Haruki decided to eat first to quell his hunger before finding his uniform.

"Itadakimasu!" Haruki clapped his hand together before putting the wooden spoon into his mouth.

"It's delicious!" Haruki exclaimed. He did not knew people from another world could cook like this.

"I'm glad you like it."

After eating his fill, Haruki decided to try out his uniform. It was ripped at certain areas due to his fall the night before, and the elderly lady had offered to fix it.

It was lying on a wadrobe, and Haruki immediately picked up the set, checking for the ripped areas. The granny was not quite skilled, but Haruki was grateful his uniform at least looked quite alright. It was his only attachment to his world, and he was not letting it go do easily.

"Thank you for fixing it, auntie! I'll go try it out straightaway!" Haruki thanked the woman and skipped into his room to change into his uniform.

After changing into his pants, he took off the shirt that was offered to him. He looked at his right shoulder subconsciously, and implanted there, was a red tattoo. It was this tilted square with curved lines surrounding it. Haruki used his left fingers to trace it, and his mind went back to the night before.

Haruki was grateful he had good stamina. He was able to dodge roots, low branches, and the blade behind him as he ran. The scythe could detach it's blades from the rod itself because there was a chain in the rod to connect them all together. But Haruki figured the chain should be magical, because it was extending well beyond the length of the rod itself.

Haruki turned back one more time to see how Rinya was faring, only to see the blade slice through a root. It exploded with purple flames, and Haruki decided he seriously would not want to be caught in that weapon.

"I still can't control it very well, but at least my Shard can do this!" Rinya yelled.

The biggest blade shot past Haruki, drawing a thin line of blood from his cheek. Even though it was a small cut, the pain was burning and Haruki winced.
