"I don't believe that could kill her, but still, maybe a limb or two is burnt real bad. Kahahahaha!" Green was laughing loudly at his masterpiece.
"I'm going to kill you, you bastard!"
"If you can!"
Haruki felt powerless as he could only stare helplessly at the smoke clearing from the explosion. The tightness in his chest increased as time went, bracing himself of what he could see.
To his surprise, Rinya did not seem to be too badly hurt. The vines that exploded were no longer there, and Rinya sat on the ground, rubbing her wrists and ankles where her sleeves and boots had been burnt off. The explosion blew away part of her attire, but the skin expose underneath was not too badly damaged, as far as the eye could see.
"What the hell? I'm pretty sure I roughed her up pretty bad!" Green gritted his teeth in frustration.
Haruki and Rinya immediately knew what was the reason, and Haruki was grateful for it during times like these.
"Why---" Green stopped halfway, noticing the reason. His face turned into scowl. "The thing on your thigh---! It's---"
"Rinya! Are you okay?"
"Pretty much! I think I still can push on!"
"Can you help me get rid of these things trapping me?"
"I'll try!" Rinya nodded.
She swung her scythe, the blades disconnecting, but once again, the blades only managed to scratch the surface with a sizzle.
"These plants use by Green is infused with Light! I'm pretty damn sure!" Haruki exclaimed.
"So I have to let my scythe go crazy again if I have to free you?"
"Please! It's up to you!"
"But---!"
"Just do it!"
"Not so fast!"
Rinya decided she had no choice but to do it, before Green tried anything funny once more. The blades went berserk, managing to slice the tree trunks around Haruki with ease this time, as though a hot knife through butter. Haruki ducked to escape the deadly blades, and jumped out of the trap once it was safe.
Green clicked his tongue in frustration, knowing a crazy blade swinging around recklessly would pose a threat, so he snapped his fingers and once more huge logs rained down from the sky, this time threatening to crush Haruki and Rinya.
"Oryaaaaahhhhh!" Rinya poured more Darkness into her weapon and swung the scythe towards the huge logs looming over them, and the blades went into a frenzy, slicing the logs with their sharp ends and burning the remains with the Darkness flames coated around the blades.
Haruki also fired exploding arrows, causing countless arrows to destroy the other logs Rinya did not manage to cut down.
However, all these were a distraction, as Green ussd the falling chunks of wood as cover and closed in on Rinya without the two noticing, and delivered a punch to Rinya's abdomen, sending her flying backwards. She coughed in pain as the clothes around her abdomen tore, and the wound sizzled.
"Rinya!" Haruki rushed towards Rinya as he continued shooting arrows at the falling logs, their numbers reduced drastically but still falling.
He did not have time to reach Rinya before he felt a chill down his spine, and instinctively rolled away, just to see a blade sticking out from the ground he was on a moment ago.
He looked up to see three black figures dropping down on him from trees, all with identical twin blades, except for one, whom Haruki assumed threw one at him earlier on.
