"Mom, please I beg of you!" I asked her for the fifteenth time.
"No! I'm your mother, and I will not accept my daughter missing her first day of middle school!"
Sometimes moms just don't understand, ya know? So the next day, I had to go to middle school. All I wanted to do was maybe skip a year or so. Is that such a big deal? The next day, when I walked to the end of my drive way, I could tell I was getting more and more nervous. My stomach had this hungry feel to it. I knew that that was impossible since I had just had a gigantic breakfast. Then, my stomach felt all sick. I thought I was going to throw up! Finally, I got to the last stage, which is tingling. It was the regular butterflies-in-the-stomach thing.
I looked down the road to see where the heck the bus was. I had been standing in my driveway for almost 15 minutes. The bus was supposed to be picking me up at 6:50. I had left my house at 6:45. I looked at my watch, don't worry it was one of those stylish gaudy watches. It was green, my favorite color. It was already 7:00. I waited a few more minutes, thinking I might have missed it. Right when I was about to head back to the house, I heard the roar of the bus turning on to my street. Thank God! The bus stopped in front of me. I walked to the bus. I was freaking out! I knew the kids on the bus could see me through the windows. I didn't want to walk too fast. That would make me look like a nerd. Then I would seem like I was eager to get to school. NOT COOL! If I walked to slow...then well.. I guess that would just look weird. Yeah I know I think too much!
When I got on the bus, there was a pretty good amount of people already on. I didn't really know where to sit. I sat in a seat where there was no one across from me. That way no one would get mad at me because some people wait for their friends to sit across from them. As I was on the bus, some girl was seat hopping so she could talk to multiple people at one time. She was about half a foot taller than me. I just knew she had to have failed some grade at least once to still be in the sixth. She looked at me after she had been sitting across from me for a while.
"What's your name?" she asked.
"Uh.. Michelle."
"I'm Ashley. What uh grade are you in? Sixth?"
"Yeah. You?"
"Eighth."
Of course she's in eighth grade, Stupid!, I thought to myself. I couldn't believe that an eighth grader would talk to me, just a sixth grader! I mean I didn't even know her. Never even seen her before! These two girls walked up, or should I say seat-hopped, to Ashley.
One said in half a whisper,
"Ashley, why are you talking to her? Isn't she a sixth-grader? That's kinda weird!" Wow! What a jerk!, I thought. She was sitting in the seat right behind me! Of course I'm gonna hear her!
"Oh...no...I wasn't! It was just like she just won't stop telling me stuff and I'm trying not to be like mean or whatever, Amy and Trisha! I did tell her though she might wanna stay away from all the eighth graders though." said Ashley.
"Excuse me!" I said to them. "Yeah, that's right," said Trisha, "you're a loser! Everyone knows it. It's no big deal so just turn around and shush!"
"Whatever," I replied, "I bet you're in E.S.E. classes!" They said they were both in regular classes.
"I bet it's a lot better than the classes you're in!" said Amy.
