"Oh, my goodness. What a monstrosity! A fight! On the first day of school! What do you girls have to possibly say for yourselves?"

"Mrs. Burbick, if I may say something in my defense...This girl was all over me just as well!" Brittany lied.

"Ms. Green, when the assistant principal came upon you two, he said you had your hands around this girl's neck! So how can you tell me she was all over you?! Oh, and I apologize for not knowing your name deary. You're a freshman, yes?" she said turning her gaze over to me. Her glasses looked as if they were about to fall off her nose. She seemed to be a nice lady, but then again she was the principal. How nice could she have really been? Mrs. Burbick was a.. uh.. heavy-set lady, like most older ladies.

"Uh..yes ma'am. Fresh as they come." Really! Fresh as they come? God, I was a loser!

"Mrs. Burbick, my hands weren't grasped around her neck like the verbal picture you're portraying. I was pulling her closer to me. That's all." Hmm. Good descriptive words, Brittany. Well done, my enemy.

"And for what reason is that, Ms. Green?"

"Well.. ya see... I didn't really want this to get out, but if you must know.... " she sighed and looked down at the floor, "We're together... like that. We've only been dating for a couple of weeks before school started, and I was leaning in to kiss her." Uh.. what???!!! Did I hear that correctly? I take back what I said.

I was blown away! I mean I hated to say it, but she was a great liar!! There was no way Mrs. Burbick was going to believe that though, especially from Brittany!

"Oh...well...I see. Um..is this all true? Uh.. sorry, I didn't catch your name." I had thought too soon!

"Michelle.. It's Michelle." I didn't know how to answer. Out of my peripheral, I could see Brittany giving me a death stare. I quickly glanced over. She gave a slow nod.

"Uh..yeah. Three weeks this Friday." I lied beautifully.

"Oh..well I am very sorry for this misunderstanding, young ladies...or uh..students." She stood up to escort us out. She walked over to the door and opened it for us, not looking us straight in the face. We both stood, and I thanked the good Lord that this high school wasn't too big on public display of affection, especially that of "lesbians". Sorry God!
