Chapter Five – Finding Rayna

I woke up and almost scared myself to death when I looked into the mirror.

Bags under my eyes, hair looking like a rat’s nest and anyone could have mistaken me for a homeless person.

“Stupid hair” I grumbled as I tried to untangle my hair, in my head, my hair was singing ‘I Can’t Be Tamed’

I stomped down into the kitchen to see my father seated at the head of the table, I gave him a warm smile.

“Good morning Gwen”

“Good morning dad” and as I passed Jenine I whispered “ Morning Jen” and she smiled.

“Tyra dear, could you give Gwen here, some bacon and egg?”

“Sure darling” Giving dad a smile and when her gaze turned to me changed into a disgusted face.

I guess I’ve got to live with it.

I was earlier than usual because I wanted to leave before Trent stopped by because today was his day to pick me up . He deserved it for not telling me about Kylie.

After kissing dad, I drove off to school ready to face Meg, who must be bursting with excitement to tell me all about Saturday night. I could imagine a big smile plastered on her face that must be glowing like a Christmas tree on 25th December, while waiting for me at my locker.

I furrowed my eyebrows to what I saw, it got me worried. She wore a frown on her face and her eyebrows were furrowed.

If Shane did anything to her I swear I will hit him in the balls and give him a piece of my mind and my fist.

Turns out, I didn’t have to do either. She was angry with me because I didn’t return any of her calls.

“I am so sorry Meg”

“Sorry? Didn’t you want to know what happened on Saturday night?”

“I am sorry Meg, but I needed some space after I saw Trent-“ I hugged her, she was the only person that knew about my crush on Trent.

She hugged me back as a small tear fell down my cheek onto her shirt.

“Trent what ?”

“After I saw Trent snogging Kylie” That was all I had to say when she embraced me in a hug once more.

“I am so sorry Gwen, I had no idea”

“It’s not your fault Meg” I wiped the few teardrops that managed to escape.

“Now that I’m done making you feel guilty and since we are even, I want to know everything. Don’t even miss a single detail.”

We both laughed.

“He blind folded me and led me to the beach where he had the set-up the most romantic site. The spot was in a secluded area, first we ate at the table for two and the food was delicious. It was a prawn dish and you know how much I love prawns, I don’t really know what it’s called, it had a fancy French name. “

She took a deep breath and continued with her dreamy eyes.

“After dinner, we sat on a mat that was spread out on the sand. There were candles around us and it looked beautiful. We talked, cuddled on the beach and the sound of the waves washing on the shore, oh Gwen, the scene looked like it was taken from a postcard.”
