Chapter Eleven
They fought but not like ordinary high school boys. It seemed like they were trained..
The bleeding hadn’t stopped yet and I struggled to keep my eyes open.
“Gwen!!” came a shout from a distance.
“This is not over Parker” said Keith holding his stomach and limped away. I am sure his ribs were broken.
I looked at Sean, who was panting, he had a few cuts on his face and his nose was bleeding too.
“Lets get you out of here” he said holding me upright.
I couldn’t take it anymore, my eyes closed and darkness enveloped me.
~~
“How is she doing?”
“I don’t know, she hasn’t woken up since”
I heard voices, my eyes opened slowly. I had to blink quite a few times to adjust to the lamp that lit the tent.
I tried sitting up as I lifted my hand, there was pain but I could bear it.
“Hey” said Meg softly giving me a smile.
“Hey!” I replied.
“How are you doing?” she asked with worried eyes. She got worried over the slightest things especially when it came to me.
“I am hungry” I smiled shyly.
“Well obviously! You haven’t eaten anything since morning and its 4” she said handing me a box of sandwiches.
I took a piece but truly I wasn’t in the mood for sandwiches. Soup would have been so much better but beggars can’t be choosers.
“I got something for you” said Trent who was kneeling in front of our tent.
“I’ll be right back” said Meg
Trent came and sat beside me.
“Hi” I said smiling.
“Hi” he replied.
We just looked at each other, it was one of those moments that can’t be explained. We just looked at each other not saying a word.
“I brought you some soup” he said with a caring smile.
He knew. He knew just what I needed… what I wanted.
“Thanks, but how did you manage to?” I asked.
“Shane and I stole the bus keys, drove to the nearest town and bought it.” He said with amusement in his voice.
“You didn’t have to. Thanks” I said.
“Who said we only did it for you? We ate burgers, I wouldn’t be able to survive the night only on marshmallows!”
I rolled my eyes.
“Let me” he said as I tried opening the container.
“I am just a little wounded not paralyzed”
“Whatever you say” he said handing the spoon to me.
The soup was yummy and just what I needed.
“Thanks for sharing” he said sarcastically.
“Here” I said giving him the rest of the soup
