I make a living by working at Starbucks.
Starbucks is an okay job, but it's not a good career unless you're planning to go into Starbucks management. I was totally fine with filling cups with typical white-girl drinks. I didn't really want to deal with the responsibility of managing a business.
I did have a small YouTube channel with about 1,000 subscribers. Occasionally, I would direct a small short-film or edit a short-film. Most of the actors were coworkers from Starbucks, but they were good actors. I acted in very few of them, but I wasn't incredibly bad.
I passed my time with filling coffees, playing with cameras, and watching YouTube. That was how my life went. Over and over, I did the same things and I hated it. I barely had enough money to support myself. Sometimes I thought it'd be better if I were to die, but on the brink of collapse, I received the best job ever.
"Levi, why won't you listen to me?"
I snapped out of my thoughts and stared at my best friend, Sara Rubin. Her short green hair looked wild today, which she attempted to hide with a beanie. I sipped my iced coffee and stared at her."Mmhm, Sara?"
"You could get a job at Buzzfeeeeeeed." She said, grinning. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. My boss, Jesse, eyed me suspiciously. I was currently on my break, and being one of the best coffee-makers, I know he didn't want me quitting.
"I told you already, I can't," I said. "I already have a job here. Plus, it's not like I'm that good at film."
"You studied in New York," she pressed on. "New York Film Academy is one of the best. Don't get all uptight about 'ohh, I could never be a video producer!' because you can." I lightly shook my head and said nothing. "Please? My boss really wants to meet you."
"No he doesn't," I said, sipping my drink. Sara snorted. "I'm serious, Sara. You keep trying to lie and butter me up to apply for a job, and I'll never do it. I don't want to work at Buzzfeed, understand?" She shook her head.
"Too late," Sara grinned guilty. "I kinda applied for you anyway." I gasped as rage bubbled inside me.
"Sara!" I snapped. She held her hands up.
"I'm sorry, okay, Levi?" She said. "I just want something good for you. Please, just go to the job and meet my boss. I told him you specialize in writing, acting, and editing."
"Fuck you," I muttered, squeezing my coffee cup slightly. Sara sighed sadly and stood up.
"The interview is tomorrow at 4:30 PM. Look for Sean Rossmen; that's one of the bosses. If you don't want to go, just stay home." She grabbed her backpack and left Starbucks. I tossed my coffee in the trash and went back to the counter. Sara does have a point. There would really be no harm in getting a job. But Buzzfeed? It's not something to be proud of. I can imagine it now: 'Hey, Levi, where do you work?' 'Oh, I work at Buzzfeed! You know, the place where all the Internet addicts work?'
I won't end up like that. I won't.

I applied my last bit of eye makeup and stared at myself in the mirror. The red lipstick goes well with my long, brown hair.
I hadn't planned to look this nice. After thinking about what Sara said, I'm deciding to go to Buzzfeed. I know, it's crazy, but I'm passing by the building anyway for chores, so I might as well check it out. I'm not planning to get a job. I'm only going to check it out. I put on my boots and grabbed my keys.
The drive wasn't that long. I parked my black Toyota Corolla in the parking lot and slung my bag over my shoulders. I took a deep breath and opened the front doors, realizing the mistake I had made. Sara was sitting on the couch in the front lobby-type place. She looked up from her phone and grinned.
