After another gruelling couple of days on Appa, we were once again flying above more land. I had my head in my hands, resting against the saddle, Sokka was sharpening his boomerang and eating some jerky at the same time, Katara was humming a song and braiding her hair, and Aang was playing with marbles.
Sokka suddenly stopped sharpening and looked down at the ground far below us.

"Hey guys look, what's that? It looks like a scar."

I got up and went over to the side of Appa to state at the ground. That's how bored I am right now. At first I thought it was a shadow. But as I looked closer, I saw it was a giant area of just scorched earth. Trees, animals, plant life-all of it was gone. It was just blackened earth.

I heard Aang and Katara gap from beside me. My eyes watered. We had let the fire nation do this. We weren't there when the world needed us the most, and this is what happened. I buried my head in Sokka's shoulder and cried.

Aang P.O.V

We landed on the scorched ground, and I walked over to a feather lying on the ground. All of the animals and plants were burned. Gone. I fell to my knees and put my head in my hands.

Sokka looked at the burnt trees left over. "It's so quiet..." Then he saw the footprints. Firenation footprints. "Those stupid savages, they have no respect for-" Katara cut him off.

"How could I let them do this?" I whispered. Katara came up to me and sat down.

"It's not your fault Aang. You were trapped in ice. There was no way you would've come to save this forest."

Even though Katara yelled to cheer me up, I was still sad. Then something hit me in the head. Hard. "Hey?!" I yelled, rubbing where it hit. It was an acorn.

Kaori had another in her hand. "The forest will grow back, over time it will bring be plants and Asia's, starting with these." She threw another at me and I dodged it.

Katara put an acorn in my hands, and I put it in my pocket. Maybe there was some hope after all.

Kaori's P.O.V

We sat there silently for a second, before we saw a a man rubbing toward us. Sokka pinned his boomerang at the man. "Stop! Who are you?" He shouted.

The man bent over, clearly exhausted from running. "I saw you land your bison, and realized you were the Avatar, the bridge between this world and the next. My people need your help at once. Come with me." The man began walking away without another word.

We looked at each other, wondering if we should follow the man. Sokka looked at me, then at Aang. "My instincts tell us we should go with him." He said.
A/N~ Those instincts tho

Katara looked at him like he was stupid. "What if he's a fire nation spy? What if he's after Aang? Did anyone think of that?"
I looked at her, then at Sokka. I shrugged and started following Sokka. His instincts hadn't gotten us in trouble yet.

~~~~~~~~
We followed the old man to a small village not to far away from the scorched land. The village looked totaled. Houses were demolished, streets were torn up...it looked almost as bad as the forest did.
"What happened here?" Aang asked. He was looking around the town with a shocked expression. Katara looked suspicious and Sokka looked...well he looked hungry.
The old man led us to a big building with a bunch of people inside. He introduced us to an even older man with a long white beard. (And I mean long-this guy could've been Gandalf.)
The even older man looked at us with a deep sadness. He started to explain some spirit mumbo jumbo including a spirit, sundown, wrecking the town-boring stuff like that.
I grew bored fast and decided to go outside to play in the dirt on the road. It was never too late to practice some waterbending.
I got in my stance and drew some water out of the well beside me. As I began pushing my hands back and forth in a wave like motion, I felt something was wrong. I ran back to the big house and I suddenly wished I had paid attention earlier.
There was a giant black and white monster, and it was carrying Sokka away! And was chatting after it, but he couldn't do anything. Oh no...he's too slow...
I airbended over to Aang just as the spirit disappeared in a group of trees that had randomly grown up from the ground. Stupid spirit magic.
Katara ran over and Aang started talking to her. They sounded worried. It was like they didn't care that Sokka had just been taken away!
"Guys?" I said shakily. They both turned to me, with worry evident in their faces. "We should be looking for Sokka. He could be hurt or something." Aang suddenly looked determined.
He looked off into the forest, holding up his glider with one hand. "Don't worry Sokka, I'm coming for you." He whispered. I wiped a couple stay tears from my eyes. We would get him back. A fierce feeling of determination rolled through me.
No matter what the cost, we would find him.
