Leah
To Michael Clifford:
Me: so what do you want to know?
Michael: is everything too much to ask for? Lol
Me: I'm not very interesting, just ask me questions
Michael: we'll start simple, name?
Me: Leah Maree Carmichael
Michael: age?
Me: 23, as of two weeks ago lol
Michael: ooh nice an older woman 😂 where are you from?
Me: melbourne
Michael: well that's only an hour plane ride from Sydney 😂
He continued to ask me questions about myself for a couple of hours throughout the night. All the questions he asked were pretty basic, simple and easy to answer. I was glad; it meant I didn't have to go in to too much detail about my life recently. A lot had changed, gone was that outgoing and fun loving girl, and taking her place was a borderline depressed alcoholic.
I was so distracted by messaging Michael, that I completely forgot to Skype Ambur. I knew now that it was way too late, so I sent her a message apologisingTo Ambur: dude I'm so sorry! I completely forgot to Skype you! Tomorrow night?
I wasn't expecting a reply, it was two am where she was. Where as here, it was only 9.
Two weeks later...
I still couldn't believe that it had been two weeks, and Michael and I were still talking to each other.
Today, unfortunately I was hanging out with Georgia, when in reality all I wanted to do was stay home and watch Gossip Girl all day, eat ice cream and drink tea.
I was getting all my stuff ready to leave for the day when my phone vibrated. It was a DM notification
To Michael Clifford:
Michael: so I have two questions for you
Me: yes Mikey?
Michael: when are we doing that Pokemon marathon? And can is it okay if I text you or something rather than through this?
Michael: it took me half a fucking hour to find our DMs just before
Me: too lazy to scroll through everything are we? I'm offended, I thought we were friends Clifford
Me: and to answer your questions, come to Melbourne when you get a break, and yes you can its (xxxx-xxx-xxx)
Michael: yay! I'll text you now Byeeee xxx
I grabbed my keys off the key hook and left my apartment, to go and meet with my so-called best friend. We were only meeting at a small cafe called Créme, which was only around the corner from my place, so I decided to walk.
Once I got there, I looked around and couldn't see her, so I ordered my self a glass of wine and waited at an outside table. I put my bag on the ground, pulling out my deck of cigarettes and lighting one up. My phone vibrates on the table, as the waiter brought out my drink.
From unknown: so I forgot to ask, what are you doing today?
I wasn't going to reply, as it may have just been a wrong number, but then I looked at it again, the number was definitely international. I didn't know many people who lived overseas, just Ambur (who I'd yet to meet) and a few other internet friends, all of which had my number so we could communicate through Viber or WhatsApp. I also didn't want to reply, and ring up my phone bill, texting someone internationally could be so fucking expensive. My phone vibrated again. A new message from the same number
From unknown: oh it's Michael btw 😂😂 sorry forgot to say who I was! I can trust you with this right?
I took a look at my surroundings not seeing Georgia anywhere, so I decided to reply, after saving his number, obviously
To Michael: hey Clifford! I'm not up to much really, just meeting my so-called best friend for a drink, well coffee. She's running late so I got my self a glass of wine lol.
And yes, you can trust me. I don't have many friends to tellHe replied instantly
From Michael: isn't it a bit early to be drinking haha, sorry I forget I'm talking to the girl who gets drunk on Monday nights and DMs celebrities 😂
Why is she only your so-called best friend? To Michael: haha very funny! And it's like 3 pm here! Where are you guys anyways?
I guess we've just drifted recently, since she got a boyfriend. I'm kinda only here to keep her off my case about catching up. I really wanted to marathon gossip girl today! From Michael: it seems that there's more to it than that?
We're back still in LA. Coming back soon in like 2 weeks I think! Maybe we can have our marathon then 😝I was about to reply when I heard a voice, "oh my God! I'm so sorry I'm late doll," Georgia exclaimed, "you haven't been waiting long?"
"Just long enough to drink half a glass of wine," I said monotonously, "you said you'd be here like half an hour ago, I was even ten minutes late!"
"I'm sorry, just got so caught up at Jake's,"
"Yeah it's always Jake,"
"Leah, come on," she said, practically begging, "can't you see I'm in love with the guy?"
"Georgia, sweetie," I began, "you've been in a relationship with the guy for three months, you can not be in love with him, that's ridiculous, love takes time, and I've told you that so many times! First with Justin, then Daniel and Shaun!"
"Like you can talk, I've known and been friends with Jake for like nearly a whole year! And you? You're in love with a guy, you've never met or even spoken to before! At least I have a boyfriend, you'll never get one if you keep going on about that stupid band,"
"For fucks sakes Georgia," I nearly screamed, "I'm not in love with him, but I know I'd probably fall for him if I did get the chance,"
"Like that'll ever happen,"
"Whatever," I said, draining the rest of my glass, "I'm out,"
"Leah wait!" She yelled out to me, but it was too late, I could not deal with her shit any longerOn my walk back to my apartment I pulled out my phone, opened Twitter and composed a tweet.
@mikeysgalaxy: who needs enemies when you have a stupid bitch like Georgia Peters for a friend!
