Michael

I sat there by Leah's beside holding her hand, waiting for her to wake up.
About five minutes later there was a knock on the door, I turned to see Ambur, "hey," she gave a small smile. She looked like, how I felt, an utter wreck, "how is she?"
"Still the same," I told her
"I know the doctor said only one of us at a time, but do you mind if I come in?" She asked, "I know you don't want to leave her side,"
"Yeah it's fine," I ran my free hand through my hair, "I'm just scared that if I leave the room even for a second, somethings gonna happen,"
"It's not," Ambur told me, touching my shoulder

We sat in silence for a while, when Ambur finally spoke up, "you really like her don't you?"
"That obvious is it?" I asked
"Well yeah," she shrugged, "I'm not gonna lie, I'm a fan,"
"I figured, I know that's how you met Leah," I laughed lightly
"But yeah, I saw the photos, from that day you went in to the city together, and then Leah and I had this massive DnM about what happened after you two went clubbing,"
"I felt like such a dick," I admitted
"But you did the right thing,"
"Yeah, I mean it's worked out pretty amazingly, well..." I trailed off
"Look dude, I don't wanna over step anything here, but I'm glad you started talking to Leah, ever since you replied to her stupid DM she sent when she was wasted, she's been so happy,"
"Yeah, replying to her message was the best thing I did this year," I said
"I can tell," she told me, "I noticed how much happier you were in interviews and stuff afterwards,"
"Yeah," I gave the small brunette a small smile

We were sitting on opposite sides of Leah's bed, when all of a sudden I felt her squeeze my hand, "oh my god," I gasped
"What?"
"She just squeezed my hand," I exclaimed, "does that mean she's waking up?"
"I don't know dude, the only thing I know about this shit is from watching Greys Anatomy," Ambur laughed, "imma go get the doctor," I nodded and she left the hospital room

Apart from Leah squeezing my hand there was nothing else, so I decided to sing to her, "everybody's got there demons, even wide awake or dreaming; I'm the one who ends up leaving, make it okay," I chose Jet Black Heart, because I knew it was one of her favourites, "... Cause I've got a jet black heart, and there's a hurricane underneath it, trying to keep us apart, I write with a poison pen, but these chemicals moving between us are the reason to start again..." I could feel the tears forming in my eyes as I sang, "... The blood in my veins is made up of mistakes, lets forget who we are and dive into the dark," I finished the song, and there was still nothing.
Ambur re entered the room with the doctor, shortly after I finished singing, "Miss Lopez, just informed me the patient squeezed your hand around five minutes ago?"
"Yeah she did," I told him
"That's a good sign, expect her to wake up soon," I nodded, and Ambur returned back to her seat.

We sat there in silence again, not knowing what to say, when all of a sudden, we heard some louder breathes coming from the sleeping girl. I turned to look at her, and saw that her eyes were opening, "oh my god!"
"What?" Ambur asked
"She's opening her eyes," I could swear I had the biggest, and goofiest smile on my face; all because Leah was waking up
"Leah?" Ambur asked
"Yeah," she said quietly, her voice hoarse and quiet
"Drink this," Ambur handed her a cup of water with a straw in it, Leah took a sip
"Where am I?" Leah asked, she was only looking at Ambur and that shattered my heart
"You're at the hospital baby girl," I told her
"What happened?" She turned to face me
"You were in a car accident," I told her, "but it's okay, babe, you're awake," she just looked at me and I couldn't decipher her look, "and I'm so sorry for leaving you and not believing you when you said you didn't do anything,"
"Who are you guys?" She asked, my heart broke, "like I know you're Michael Clifford, but what the fuck are you doing here?" She didn't remember me, "and I'm sorry, but I don't know you either," she said to Ambur. I couldn't take it any more, I got up out of my seat and walked out of the room. I kept walking until I was outside the hospital; walking straight into Leah's dad and step mum.
