Chapter 2

ELLIES POV:

Beau opens the front door and gestures for me to walk inside so I do. I still remember the house from top to bottom. I see a glow in the lounge room so I follow Beau into there. Gina is sitting watching the TV. She looks up and smiles when she sees me.

"Ellie! I haven't seen you in a while, how's things?" she asks as she gets up and hugs me. Gina was like my second mum back when I was best friends with Beau.

"Hey Gina, I have been great, what about you?" I ask returning the hug.

"Aw you know, this and that. I am super happy though that Beau has came back. I know he is safe now," she answers smiling.

"Mum," Beau grumbles.

"Okay, okay, I will let you two go catch up," she says as she sits back down.

"Come on," Beau says as he walks to his room.

I follow him and shut the door behind me. It is exactly how it was four years ago. The bright purple wall, his leopard print sheets, the footy posters, it is like he never left. Beau sits down on his bed and pats the spot next to him. I go sit down and look around his room.

"Mum wouldn’t throw anything out, she swore I wasn't dead when police said I was," Beau says quietly.

"She is a great mum," I answer.

"Yeah, I know," he answers back.

We sit there for a while, I wonder if I should ask the question. Where did he go? I don’t know if it's too early to ask that but I give it a try anyway.

"Beau," I begin.

"Mm?" he says looking at me.

"Where did you go? Back when you ran away?" I ask.

He frowns, "I can’t tell you, it would put you in danger."

"Why?" I question.

"It just would okay. I am here now safe, isn't that what matters?" he snaps at me.

"Okay, sorry," I mumble.

"El, I am sorry for snapping at you, I just don’t wanna put you in any sort of danger," he says looking sorry.

I smile and take his phone.

"What are you doing?" he asks.

"Putting my number in silly," I answer. I unlock his iPhone and go into contacts. I look under E and see my name, Ellie Elephant, the name I put in there when we were best friends.

"You still have my name," I say.

"Oh yeah," he mumbles blushing. I decide to only update the number. I leave the name as it is. I hand him my phone with his contact, Beau Bear, to put his number in. He looks at it and smiles. I can see him typing away then he hands me his phone. I smile at him and stare into his gorgeous green eyes.

"I've missed you," I blurt out.

Beau smiles, "I missed you too El.

He lays down and looks up at the ceiling. I feel my phone vibrate and look at the message.

Riley: Oi, where the fuck are you? I need to get in the house!

Ellie: Oh shit, sorry! I am at Beaus, I'll come home now.

"Hey I gotta go, Riley can’t get in the house," I say to Beau.

"Okay," he answers as he gets up to walk me out.

"See ya Gina," I say as I walk to the front door.

"Bye sweetie," she answers.

I open the front door to see Luke and Jai.
