Chapter 11

Rose spoke up as Elijah grabbed Elena's upper arm and went to drag her out of the house, "Elijah you are a man of honour, you can be trusted but I want to hear you say it one more time" she said quietly like she was afraid that he'd tell her to shut up and shove their deal where the sun don't shine, he never would because that would bring dishonour on his beliefs.

Elijah looked behind him at Rose while I stood beside Elena, until whatever he was up to was revealed to me I was not leaving her side, Damon and Stefan would kill me "you have my word, I will pardon you" he then turned to look at me as I came over to Elena "we have a long journey ahead of us" I stiffened, he was taking us to Klaus, Elijah had always wanted to get back into Klaus' good books and giving him Elena was just the thing "we should be going" his eyes didn't meet mine, he noticed everything, the same as I did, so he knew what I was thinking in that moment.

Elena looked at Rose with pleading eyes "please, don't let him take me" when she realised that Rose wasn't going to do anything she looked at me "please Alex" her brown eyes board into mine as she teared up.

"I won't let him hurt you Elena" I touched her shoulder gently and it seemed enough to make her breath easier, as her anxiety ebbed mine increased as Rose's friend cleared his throat making everyone turn to him.

"One last piece of business and we're done" Elijah said to me with a kind smile, he could read people on a weird level, he knew when you needed to talk, when you're anxious and when you're lying to him. He walked towards the other man in the room, the one who Rose had called Trevor, was fiddling with the sleeve of his shirt, his eyes were glassy meaning he was about to shit his pants in fear.

"I've waited so long for this day Elijah," Trevor mumbled with a deep breath, that rattled in his lungs "I'm truly, very sorry" he said finally mustering the courage to look directly at Elijah, that's when it clicked, the story I'd been told many times in my first years as a vampire about Katherine and how one Vampire had betrayed Klaus and Elijah and let her go before going on the run, his companion had accidentally turned Katherine into a vampire trying to save her life after Katherine had tried to kill her self, I looked at Rose and understood, these were the two that had fallen for Katherine's tricks.

My eyes zoned back onto Elijah as he waved off the guys apology "oh no, your apologises are not necessary" while Elijah spoke I moved Elena behind my body, reading Elijah's body language and how he was circling Trevor like a predator I knew it was about to get violent and knowing Elijah it was going to get messy, he rarely got angry but when he did, he rivalled Klaus.

"Yes, yes it is" Trevor said as he lowered his head in a sign of submission, he kept talking, signing his death certificate with every word he spoke "you trusted me with Katerina and I failed you" he started to fidget more as Elijah got closer to him.

"Oh yes" Elijah said with a coldness in his voice that made me want to cringe and hide away, this was predator Elijah, the Elijah that was old as dirt and that has killed more then his fare share of humans and vampires alike "Rose helped you because she's loyal to you" he looked at Rose with a calculated nod "now that I honour" he looked at Trevor and he went deathly still "where was your loyalty?" He asked the now shaking Trevor who looked ready to pass out.

"I beg your forgiveness" Trevor said making the mistake of meeting Elijah's eyes, I didn't know what he saw, probably death itself by the way he reacted, Elijah clenched his fists and everyone in the room went still and silent, even Elena had gotten the memo to keep her mouth shut.

"So granted" Elijah said with a smile in his voice, a smile also graced Trevors lips and was about to die off when Elijah struck, as quick as a cheetah, he hit the other vampire on the side of his neck with his fist, easily removing his head from his shoulders, arterial spray splattered onto the floor and a few drops made it across the room to where Elena and I stood. Rose cried out but it was too late, her companion was now laying on the dingy floor, headless, Elena gasped as well and gripped my arm tightly.
