I ran into Damon's room and was caught by surprise to find Elena, sitting on the bed, next to Rose who was looking like Death incarnate, Elena got up quickly and spin to face me, she sighed when she saw it was me smirking at her.

"Thank god it's you" she said walking over to me, she gave me a quick hug, which caused me to tense, and then looked over at Rose was was watching us with wheezing breathes "she's not getting better" Elena whispered clutching the damp cloth that was in her hand.

"Werewolf bite will do that to you" I mumbled, I knew that Rose was going to die, that's how these things played out, a wolf bite was poisonous and deadly to vampires, there was a cure but the guy who had it won't share, I walked over to the bedside and put my hand on Rose's clammy forehead "well I have some bad news for you" I met her tear filled and dull eyes "you're sick" I removed my hand and smiled at her, just to make her feel at ease.

"That your medical opinion?" Elena asked with a chuckle as Rose rolled her eyes and sighed before coughing roughly again.

"Of course" I smiled at Elena who was shaking her head "I graduated top of my class from Johns Hopkins back in the 20s, first woman to get a full ride at that school" I winked at Elena and then turned back to Rose "you know how this ends, right?" I asked in all seriousness, if she was aware she was going to die this would make this whole experience easier for all of us.

"Yes" she mumbled weakly, bloody tears began to streak down her greying face, this was another sign the end was near, her body was literally trying to bleed the venom from her veins, it wouldn't work, obviously, she looked away from me and stared into space.

"What will happen to her?" Elena asked as I went to leave, her eyes met mine and the look she gave me was a desperate one, she didn't even know this vampire well enough to care and yet she still found a way to do it, what an idiot, if she learnt not to care like the rest of us it would make her short life a crap ton easier.

"There's no cure, she'll die" I said matter of factly, Rose had somehow gotten everyone to be friends with her, including Damon, who had decided it was a good idea to sleep with her but that wasn't a surprise, he was a bit of a man whore.

"There has to be a cure" Elena said frantically with a screech, causing rose and i to cringe because of how loud she was and how sensitive our hear is "we'll find a way to cure her, I don't care what it takes" she was grasping at straws now, so I decided to call her bluff.

"Really?" I asked, stepping closer to her, this martyr act was going to get everyone killed, especially when Klaus came to town, my brothers would lay their lives down for this little brown haired idiot "even if it costs you greatly?" I got really close to her and looked her right in the eye so she knew I was being serious "even if it costs you your life or the lives of your friends?"

"No one is going to die" Elena said gritting her teeth, I stand corrected, she is a delusional little idiot, everyone and everything dies, even vampires.

"Look around Elena, people die, every second. Do you know how many people have died in this room? Hell in this house?" She blinked, like the thought hadn't occurred to her and backed away from me "do you know how many people Damon's killed? How many people I've killed?" I squeezed my eyes shut, trying not to remember the years after I'd been turned, hunting the streets of New Orleans for women who looked like Katherine, I snapped out of it and looked at her shocked face, "even your precious Stefan has blood dripping from his hands because of what he's done"

"Why are you saying all this?" She asked, tears in her eyes, she was living with rose coloured glasses on and I was ripping them off.

"Because you need to know that people dying, isn't on your hands, we all die, end of story" I patted her head gently and walked past her, I needed to get out of here and get a drink.

"Wait, where are you going?"  She asked with worry like I was going to disappear for good and never return, the idea was tempting to say the least.

"To find my idiot brothers and to have a drink" I waved behind me as I walked out of the room and down the hall, ear picked up Rose's pained wheezes.

"You're lucky, you know" I hear her whisper as I hit the stairs "no ones ever loved me the way you're loved, even Alexandra loves you in her own way" that last part made me snort out a laugh, Rose was wrong where I am concerned, I didn't love Elena, I tolerated her for the sake of my brothers and even then my tolerance was limited.
