I sat down at the dinner table between Damon, who was at the head of the table, and Elijah while Andie sat across from me to Damon's right while Jenna next to her, halfway through the very awkward, quiet dinner Jenna decided to break the ice "I hate to break it to you Damon and Alex, but according to Elijah, your family is so not a founder of this town" she grinned at me when I just raised an eyebrow in question, what story was Elijah telling her.

"Oh really?" Damon asked, turning his intrigued eyes to Elijah who nodded his head slightly and picked up his glass of wine "do tell" He egged Elijah on slightly and I almost rolled my eyes.

"Well, as I mentioned to Jenna earlier, a fraction of settlers migrated from Salem after the witch trials in the 1690s, over the next hundred years, they built a community where they would feel safe from persecution" Elijah said confidently after he had taken a sip of his wine he began to cut up his steak.

"Hmm... because they were witches" Jenna said with a grin, she was completely taken by the story Elijah had told her which made me grin back at her, I knew of this story, as well, Elijah and Klaus had told me many times after I disclosed that I was from Mystic Falls.

"Yeah, but there's no tangible proof there were witches in Salem" Andie said said with a timid smile when Damon chuckled at her.

"Andie's a journalist, big on facts" Damon said with a grin, he liked to prove people wrong, it was one of his favourite pass times which was just a pain in my ass.

"Well, the lore says that there was his wave of anti-witch hysteria," I said with a smile when Elijah turned and grinned down at me, he loved it when I showed my smarts and he also enjoyed it when he knew I listened when he taught me about the family history or any history for that matter.

"It broke out in the neighbouring settlement, so these witches were rounded up, they were tied to stakes in a field together and, uh, burned, some say you could hear the screams from miles around, they were consumed by the fire. Could you pass the...." He pointed at the bowl of steamed peas and Alaric, who was next to him, handed it to him.

"I wouldn't repeat this to the Historical Society," Jenna said with a grin, probably imagining the mayors face she found out her precious town want hers to begin with.

"It's starting to sound a little like a ghost story to me" John mumbled, sipping his wine, his eyes were trained on Elijah and I, every time we moved John's eyes would stare in our direction like a predator would watch its prey.

"So why do you want to know the location of these alleged massacres?" I asked with a sip if my wine, I glanced at Damon who raised his eyebrow at me when I asked this, guess he though I was on Elijah's side in the whole sacrifice debacle, I was on my own side in this whole thing, Elena could die for all I cared at this point.

"You know... a healthy historians curiosity, of course," Elijah mumbled looking at me with curious eyes, he weed to know why I asked this and clearly so did Damon because while Elijah brushed my leg with his Damon kicked my other leg with his shoe, both actions made me jump slightly.

"Of course," Damon mumbled sipping his own wine, his eyes on my now still form.

~ After Dinner ~

"Does anyone care for some cognac? I have a bottle I've been saving for ages" Damon asked looking right at Elijah, this is what Damon was waiting for, this was the moment he would strike

"None for me thanks, nine bottles of wine is my limit" Ric said pushing his plate away as I kicked Damon's shin with the heel of my shoe, Damon glared at me before turning his gaze to Andie who shifted in her seat and cleared her throat.
