Chapter 5- Breathe

A/N. Before you read this, I just want you to know that this chapter is not written by me. It's by my best friend, Ken, who goes with the name Jap (weirdly IDEK y) but he agreed to write a few guest chapters and I hope you enjoy this!

Instinctively, she grabbed the steer and swerved it, the tires screeching as the car abruptly stopped right in front of a streetlamp, barely crashing.

"Oh my god, did we hit someone?" Taylor cried, before paling at the sight of an old woman on her knees, gasping for breath. "We have to help her!"

Taylor opened the door and jumped out, running over to the old woman. The woman was palming her chest, breathing erratically with saliva trickling down her mouth.

"I-I don't remember hitting anyone," Zayn said softly as he exited the car, his face as white as a ghost.

"We didn't," Taylor confirmed as she started to feel the pulse of the woman. And before any of them can speak again, the old lady visibly stiffened, her eyes frozen, shell-shocked. Taylor felt her heart drop as she realised what was happening.

"Oh god, she's having a seizure!" she shouted as she moved the woman away from the road and onto the pavement.

"Hold her down. Make sure that she's not biting her tongue—oh wait, dammit she's biting it! Open her mouth—yeah, like that. Don't put your fingers in her mouth, it can block air passage. Move her jaw instead. Yeah, that's right. Okay it's good now."

"Should we give her CPR? She seems to be having trouble to breath?"

"No, these kind of seizures doesn't require CPR," Taylor said, placing a hand on the woman's pulse. "See? Her chest movement is becoming normal, although her breathing is still short. Her complexion is getting its normal colour back, so it's a good sign."

"Okay, water then?"

"Later. We should get her inside the car first and get to a hospital. We might never know what complications can happen."

"M'kay. She's still limp though. Are you sure that she's alright?" Zayn asked as he carried the woman on his back.

Taylor double-checked the woman on his back, before opening the door to the car. "Well, she is old after all. These kinds of seizures usually last for a few minutes, and the victim should be fine afterwards. However, her stamina is low, so she must be really exhausted. That's why she's not reacting."

Zayn laid the woman along the seat, making sure that her face is not suffocated by the cushion seat.

He heard Taylor fastening the seatbelt in front, and Zayn nodded at her when she pointed at the woman with questioning eyes. "We're good to go."

She watched as the city started to dwindle from her vision as the car went faster.

"You know, this isn't the way I thought the night would end." she said, finally breaking the silence.

Noticing that Zayn started to shift uncomfortably, Taylor corrected herself. "But not in a bad way! I was really expecting a boring date and all, but this is definitely something I would have never expected."

"Are you saying that your dates were boring before?" Zayn teased, which elicited a laugh from Taylor.

"Not really," she said, "it's just that I never really take them seriously. It's been a long time since I last dated anyone." Her voice started to soften, her eyes watering a little.

"Well, I guess life doesn't go in one direction." Taylor giggled a little at his remark, but she stared at the stars for a bit, almost longingly.

"It never does."
