Hello dear readers here's chapter two tell me what you think of Jarred so far

------

Just because I fell asleep fast didn't mean I stayed asleep. I kept waking up screaming from these terrible nightmares I don't want to remember. Jarred would hug me and tell me that it was just a nightmare, whispering until I fell asleep again. But was it really, because last I checked my life had turned into a nightmare.

My eyes opened and I could see sunlight streaming through the window. My head was resting on Jarred's chest and he held me to him tightly.

I pushed away softly trying not to wake him so I could hopefully get out of this house, but first I had to use the restroom. I walked to his adjoining bathroom and took a quick pee washing my hands as quietly as possible.

There was a pair of jeans on the floor by the door and I picked them up recognizing them from yesterday. It was a pair of faded black jeans he had worn yesterday. I quickly checked the back pocket and found the key. I quietly stepped out of his room going toward the main door in a hurry.

I managed to get it open and walked out. I let out a breath I had no idea I'd been holding. I didn't know where I was so I just started to run hoping he wouldn't wake up and catch me. I was running on the sidewalk unsure of which way to go since I had no idea where I was, so I just ran.

I stopped running when I finally ran out of breath and I could no longer see the house behind me. There were still no houses and buildings nearby so I was still a bit on edge. I had to find a payphone, and then what I had no money. Ugh I didn't have my cellphone and there was not a car in sight.

Did that mean if he woke up and saw that I was missin he could easily find me? That was not good. I had to keep going.

It was a bit hot outside especially since it was late afternoon. I'm guessing - based on the position of the sun in the sky- luckily there was a slight breeze. I suddenly felt really thirsty and really hungry and I really regretted not having taken some food with me.

I heard soft footsteps behind me so I started walking faster. Was it Jarred? Did he really catch up to me so fast? That was not good. Was he going to grab me any second now?

A cold rough hand grabbed my arm causing me to turn.

"Hey little lady" It wasn't Jarred.

It was a complete stranger. His eyes were brown, but they were so red and his pupils were dialated, he had to be on something. His light brown hair stuck out in every direction, and judging by the grip he had on my arm he was pretty strong. He looked to be in his early twenties maybe, but that didn't make me any less afraid.

"What are you doing around these parts all alone? Don't you know someone could seriously hurt you?" he asked. His eyes looking deeply at me almost as if he was looking straight throught me. His grip was tightening on my arm slowly turning painful.

"Ow let go, you're hurting me" I said trying to pull my arm out of his grasp.

He quickly grabbed my other arm. "Don't you see I'm trying to protect you" he said as he got closer. His minty breath blowing across my face.

I was freaked out maybe I should've just stayed with Jarred, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have ended like this.

"Protect me. From what?" I asked still struggling against him.

"From the creatures that live around here." he breathed getting closer still. "Those creatures killed my sister when she was about your age." he spat angrily.

What is he talking about? Creatures, what creatures?

"Beware the yellow eyed demons. They may be charming or handsome, but they're monsters, they all are!" he warned.

I was in between freaked out and curious. Could it be that what this guy said was true. Was I in more danger here now?

"Let her go" someone behind him growled. The man turned to see and froze. What could he be seeing that was so scary? I once again struggled, but the guy didn't even bother with me. He was captivated with the sight behind him. I sidestepped him only to see Jarred, but I knew the reason the man before me had frozen.

Jarred's eyes were yellow. No, no, no. That couldn't be. This guy had been on something, he was just rambling. His story hadn't been true and yet I couldn't deny the proof standing about 3 feet away.

My breathing quickened and I took two careful steps back causing Jarred's eyes to look directly at me. I froze in the spot more terrified than before. I could feel my heart beating so fast, it felt like it was going to beat right out of my chest.

The guy looked back at me as if he had completely forgotten I was there. "You have to run. I'll hold him off. Go!" he ordered.

"This will be fun. I'll rip your throat out and then I'll catch her. It's a win win. At least for me it is" Jarred snarled. His voice sounded deeper, more...frightening.

I didn't know this guy, but I couldn't let him be killed because of me. I would not witness someone else's death.

Jarred was slowly approaching the guy I had to do something fast.

"Jarred" I called causing his gaze to fall upon me once again. "Don't hurt him"

He laughed a sound that was so horrid I got goosebumps all over. The guy had been taking cautionary steps back.

"I said go" he whispered to me.

"No you go. I won't let you die. He won't kill me. Just go" I replied.

"How are you so sure?" he asked.

"Because he was looking for me, and he wouldn't go through the trouble if he just wanted to kill me" I replied unsure of how true my words really were.

The guy took off and Jarred's laugh faded. He growled, like a wolf or a wild animal. He started in the guy's direction, but I stepped in front of him.

"Kassandra get out of the way" he ordered still looking behind me.

"No" I replied.

His gaze traveled to me and he smiled. "I'll deal with you later"

"Jarred please" I begged putting my hand on his chest to stop him. I felt firm muscles tensing under my touch.

He looked down at my hand and smiled. "Oh we can do that when we get back home after I'm done with that guy" I quickly removed my hand.

I had to think of a better plan because this was not working. That's when I did the unthinkable. I leaned forward onto my toes and pressed my lips against his.

They were so soft against mine. At first he seemed surprised, but then he responded quickly putting his arms around me. The kiss was getting heated and really intense, I needed air so I pulled away. He didn't let me he placed his forehead on mine opening his eyes.

They were grey once again. We were both out of breath.

"He got away. Is that what you wanted?" he asked in his regular voice with a smille on his face.

I sagged in relief, tiredness and hunger and everything seemed to start fading out.

"Kassandra? Kassandra?" I could hear Jarred's voice getting farther and farther away. My legs gave out and all I saw was darkness, but right before I collapsed I had one final thought: What is he?
