I smiled trying not to let him see I was hurting. “No, I’m just so glad, your okay” I said as I hugged him again.

My dad followed him shortly. “Kassy I was worried about you” he said as he hugged both me and Eric.

“I missed you guys too, but is it okay if we talk tomorrow I’m really tired” I said as I slowly walked to my room.

“Aren't you hungry?” he asked.

“No I already ate. I'm just going to hit the hay” I said as I walked upstairs to my room.

I opened my door and stepped inside leaning on the door. “Took you long enough” I heard someone say behind me.

I gasped turning on the light. I took a deep breath, it was just Jarred. I locked my door.

“What are you doing here Jarred?” I hissed.

“I wanted to see you”

“Well I don't want to see you so get out” I said through clenched teeth even though I was lying. I did want him here, but I couldn't let him know that not with what he'd done earlier.

“I know you're lying to me.” he said as he caressed my cheek. How had he gotten so close without me noticing?

“Jarred it doesn't matter if I’m lying or not, my dad's here and I’m tired.” I said pushing his hand away.

“Was it what I did today?” he asked as I went under the covers.

“Just go.” I closed my eyes in the hopes that when I opened them again he'd be gone.

“Please I’m sorry you know I get jealous really easily, I just can't help it when it comes to you.”

My eyes were still closed and even though I knew he was apologizing, I knew he was going to do it again, and it was never gonna end. I care about him, but damn would it kill him to be normal?

“Goodnight” he sighed and kissed my forehead and I felt him leave.

I felt a bit cold and I opened my eyes. I turned on the lamp beside my bed and saw that the window was open. Jarred must have gotten out through there and left it open. Geeze you'd think he'd at least close it.

I got up and stared out the window. I saw the tree where Jarred had held me and saved my life. It wasn't really his fault that my mom and sisters were killed, but part of me blamed him. He couldn't have tried to warn the police, my mom, me? He could have protected us all.

The longer I stood there the longer I realized that when Gabriel came to pick me up he never once came in the house. Why was that? He could have come in and forced me into his car but he didn't. Did that mean that vampires couldn't enter a house?  I overheard Sheila saying she couldn't enter without being invited in, did that apply to vampires too?

I saw a shadow in my peripherals, and turned. I realized it was probably nothing  I was most likely just being paranoid.

I reached out to grab the window when someone grabbed my hand. I was going to scream, but the voice whispered, “Shh, don't” there was something about the voice made the scream stay in my throat.

The intruder entered my room just as casually as a boyfriend sneaking in would. When I saw his face I knew it was the guy that had bitten me. I gasped. “H-how did you get in?”

“I got permission, that's not important I need to tell you something.” he began.

“Permission? From who?” I asked.

“From one of your sisters, Phillip compelled her to invite us in so now we can come in whenever we want. But I came here to tell you-”

“So you came into my house and slaughtered my mom and my sisters? Why didn't Phillip just compel me to come out, he didn't have to hurt them” I said as tears started to fall down my face.

“I know that, but he's a monster, I’m a monster, we all are, and I came to warn you and you werewolf friends that Phillip has a new plan and he's going to kill Jarred." he said.

I gasped. “What, but why Jarred?” I asked.

“To start the war. He has alpha blood, but since he's neither alpha nor beta he's the weakest and the easier target, which will cause a war between werewolves and vampires...”
