Virat gasped. He was shocked at the sight of Manvi sleeping crawled up in a ball on the dusty floor of this room. By the look of it, the room seemed unused since a while.
"Manvi, Manvi..." Calling her name, he tried to awaken her but failed as she didn't even stir a bit.
He was about ti shake her but the moment his hand touched her forearm, he drew his hand back hissing at the temperature of her body. She was freaking burning! Not wasting a second he lifted her up in his arms and brought her to her room. Laying down gently on the bed, Virat yelled Dabbu's name and commanded him to bring some water and a cloth.
Dragging a hand down his face he collapsed down by her side on the bed. He noticed her lips moving as he sprinkled some water on her face but the words were incoherent.
Slowly Manvi opened her eyes but the next second closed them as pain hit her head. Virat who was still placing wet clothes on her forehead soon cupped her face in his hands delicately.
"Manvi! Are you feeling alright now?" Worry laced in his voice, he asked.
Manvi licked her dried lips. "Virat, you're back."
It took a few seconds for Virat to gather his wits back. He pressed his stubbly cheek on her forehead convincing himself that she was fine now. "Yes, I'm back, sorry it took me while to return from the village. The villagers..." He breathed leaving the topic and turned to look at Manvi.
"But what the hell were you doing in that bloody room? You know, I've searched for you in the whole mansion after I came back... and you were no where until... until I went to that room at the end of the corridor. And when I found you, you were burning in fever." Virat was frantic. Feeling all over the place he pulled at his hair.
Manvi thought for a long moment if she should tell Virat everything, those every damn weird things happening with her since she stepped foot in this mansion. Something in the back of her mind said that he wouldn't believe her, that it was useless to tell him.
So she just sighed, pushed the happenings in the mansion in the back of her mind. She softly removed Virat's hands from his hair which he was still pulling at. She couldn't help but smile faintly at his habit of always messing with his hair whenever he was too much tensed or worried about something. When Virat looked up at her with his brows pulled together in a frown, she patted the side of her bed weakly. Understanding her gesture Virat slid next to her under the comforter and pulled her body next to him snugly.
Exhaling a deep breath he muttered at last. "You'll be the death of me one day Manvi and know that I would die a madman."
Her mind drifted back to last nights dreams, those scattered bits and pieces of blurry images.
"You won't." Manvi said in a breathy voice, slightly laced with fear and denial. "I won't let you."
A knock sounded on the door that made Virat and Manvi separate from each other and look at at who it was interrupting them. Dabbu.
Virat wanted to beat some sense into this boys head. It felt like after so long he had his wife in his arms willingly... and that fool had to barge in right at that moment.
"What it is now Dabbu?" Virat didn't even try to hide the irritation from his voice. His concentration haltered for a second from Dabbu though when Manvi coughed a little. In inhuman speed Virat had a glass half filled with water before Manvi's mouth. She didn't resist but drank from his hand heartily.
"A man is here searching for you." Dabbu said meekly staring at his feet knowing that he had disturbed a special moment between the married couple. Internally he couldn't help but adore the way these two were so lucky to have one another in their lives.
