"I think this was a bad idea..."

"Why do you say that?" Jahleel asked, stepping closer into my personal space.

"I didn't know him... What was I thinking, coming here?" I mumbled the last part, while looking over my shoulder, at a woman who had been staring at me a few minutes too long. I didn't even know why I agreed to come. I mean, I had met Jahleel only a few weeks ago, and this all seemed so sudden.

"You ready?"

I waited as he said his good byes, before following him out of the building. "Did you know that woman back there? Wearing the black dress?"

"Which one? They all were wearing black." He sarcastically spoke, reversing the car with a slight chuckle.

"She was sitting toward the back... With another woman."

"Oh, Kaidyn? Yeah, that's my coworker's woman. What about her?"

"She kept staring at me... If I didn't know any better, I'd swear she was your woman." I half laughed, while reclining in the driver's seat. "Where did you say you worked again?"

"I'm part owner of a shipping company."

"Oh, really? How long have you been in business? What all do you ship?"

"A few years now... But I don't want to talk about that... I'm more interested in getting to know more about you."

"What do you want to know?"

"What's your sign?"

"What's my sign?" I half laughed, watching him stare at the rode, before quickly glancing at me.

"Yeah, why you laughin'?" He smiled, with curiosity.

"Because, you didn't strike me for the type who knew much about signs. Are you into astronomy and horoscopes?"

"I mean... nah. I'm honestly just talking. It's better than me asking you what type of panties you're wearing, right?"

I stared at him briefly. "Excuse you? As if you would ever think you could ask me something like that."

He caught onto my sarcasm and corrected himself, changing the subject. "What made you want to become a lawyer?"

That was a better question. I moved closer toward my seat, and thought to myself. What made me want to become a lawyer?

"I've always been interested in law, for as long as I could remember, I knew this is what I wanted to become. When I graduated high school, I had no doubt about what my major would be in college."

"So, what, do you work with divorced couples?"

"I'm a criminal defense attorney."

"So you protect the bad guys, huh?" He eyed me patiently, seeming rather interested in my career.

"I guess you can say that. I've always been the person who sees the good in people... even when they're not so good." I shrugged, looking over my nails and thinking of my soon to be ex husband.

"Is that right?" He paused, before stopping at the traffic lights. "So, what about me? Do you see any good in me?"

I stared at him, then pretended to be heavily thinking before he laughed. "I don't know you well enough yet, but from what I do know... you seem too calm all of the time, which tells me you're either very sneaky or observant. And you're basically calling yourself a bad guy, which proves my point."
