"Hey, baby! Did you miss me?"

"Yes! Are we going home, now?"

"Casey, get back over here!" Marcus called, walking toward the two.

"Marcus, don't do this." She sighed, not wanting to let him out of her arms.

"You did it to yourself, Erica."

"Did what, Mommy?" Casey asked, looking up to her.

She looked like she wanted to speak up, but refrained. Instead she changed the tone of the conversation. "I'm going to see you later, okay? Go back over to your dad, Casey." Erica reluctantly spoke. The happiness drained from her demeanor, as she broke away from their embrace.

"But... I thought we were going back home."

"Give me a hug before you leave." She kneeled down, pulling him in and holding his small body tightly. The two of them seemed to never want to let each other go, until Marcus intervened.

"You ready, Casey?"

She rose, allowing Marcus to take Casey's hand. "I'll see you later, okay?" Erica called out, watching him walk away.

He nodded his head, holding onto Marcus, while I followed carrying Sky. I figured that it was best for me to let the two of them handle things further on their own, at that time.

Later that night, I cooked Casey's favorite dinner, but he wouldn't leave the room. We were staying in Marcus' old apartment, that he would normally visit, whenever he didn't come home. I never understood why he kept it around, but the entire space was fully furnished, and well kept.

"Aren't you hungry, Casey?" I asked, standing near the door frame, watching him lay in bed sulking.

"No, thank you."

"Are you sure?"

"I miss my mommy. When can I go back home?"

"Uh, very soon, okay?" I lied, not knowing the actual answer to his question.

Easily closing the door, I walked to the dining area, where I saw Marcus feeding Sky. "She knows how to do it herself."

"Yeah, I know. But she likes it when I do it for her." He smiled at Sky, blowing at the spoon before placing it in her mouth.

I took a seat, watching the both of them, before thinking about how Casey was feeling. Other than visiting us throughout the week, Erica what his primary caretaker, and the closest person he had, other than Marcus.

"Where's Casey?" Marcus asked, glancing at me, before turning his focus back to Skyleigh.

"He's still sad about, Erica. Do you really think you can keep them away from each other forever?"

"That's not what I'm trying to do... You should be the last person questioning me about keeping my kid away."

"Well, what's your plan, Marcus?" I asked, changing the direction of the conversation.

"I don't know yet. I'm still trying to figure shit out."

"How about I watch Sky, and you go and talk to Casey. That can be the first step."
