I looked around, hiding behind a tree. I sniffed the air. No sign of any titans nearby so far. I waved to the others to keep going.
There were 5 of us, Me, Night, Stream, Fae, and my brother, Foal. We'd been sent out of camp to search for food.
Foal sniffed the air and help up a hand. 'Stop' it signaled. 'Why?' I signed, fed up that he had taken over MY leadership role once again. 'People.' He signed.
People? Like, living people? No. He had to have smelled wrong. No one else in the clan would have followed us and no other humans had survived the initial attack 100 years ago.
I sniffed the air. He was right. The smell of meat, sweat, and slight fear. People. I scanned the area. There, moving quickly through the air was a blur of green.
'Bird' I signed. Relieved, it was a strange smelling bird though. He shook his head and pointed to the sky, the green wized by again but that's when I saw what he was pointing at, some kind of wire. It propelled them through the air.
People. Real, living people. I ducked down and motioned for the others to do the same. I watched the people fly by before they landed on the ground.
I saw 3 of them, a tall blonde man with a American accent, a brunette with glasses, and a short raven haired man. Or was he dwarf? Those are real right? No. No, about as real as dragons.
"Levi, you're SURE you saw someone out here?" The blonde said to the midget.
"Yes, I'm POSITIVE. There were at least 4 of them." The man replied.
Idiot. There are 5 of us. And many more back at camp. Only three of you. What was with the matching clothes though? And where did they get the fabric? So thick...was it cotton? Did they have sheep?
I swallowed, hoping these people weren't hostile. They had sheep, who knows what else? A town? No...a titan would easily kill a town...unless they had so many people that the titans couldn't eat them all! Could they get full? They'd never eaten enough of us to know.
"Maybe your eyes were playing tricks on you, I mean, 4 people really? Out here with the titans?" The brunette accused.
"I'm telling you I SAW them!" The short man, Levi, insists.
"Listen, we have to go back. The retreat flare was fired already." The blonde says.
"So? You're in charge! Just tell them to keep looking." Levi says, I couldn't tell if he was angry or always like this.
Just then I heard a twig snap to my left. I turned my head to see stream had broken a stick when moving slightly towards them. She froze in fear. The midget turned to see her.
"See!" He said, pointing. Stream turned to run, her black hair flowing with the turn. Suddenly she was yanked back by it and before I knew it the blonde had a arm across her chest and she was pinned to his body.
"We won't hurt you." He assures her. Won't hurt her my ass. I step out from my hiding place, aiming my hunting bow at his head. I've never killed a man before, not that I've ever seen a man to kill, but he had Stream.
"Woah, put that down. We won't hurt her." He says. I furrow my brows at him.
"Let her go." I say. He slowly releases Stream after some careful thought.
"There. Now put the bow down." He says, putting his hands by the sides of his head. "We won't hurt you." I looked at the others, their hands twitching by the handels to their swords. They were going to draw them.
I refocused my aim to the blonde man's shoulder and let my arrow fly. It hit, obviously, I've always had great aim. He grabs his shoulder in pain.
"ERWIN!" Levi shouts, he draws his sword and charges at me, I dodge and aim an arrow at his head.
"Levi stop." Erwin orders. "Don't." Levi looks from him to me before sighing and sheathing his blade. "We won't hurt you. You can put that away." He says, looking at my bow. I think and focus it's aim at the ground.
"There were four of you Levi said?" The brunette half says half asked. I think. If I tell them about the others I could lose the uperhand. I sigh.
"Five." I say. I wave for Night, Fae, and Foal to join me. They do, weapons drawn.
"Where are you from?" Erwin asks. What do they mean like a city?
"We are from the clan of The Atlantic." I respond.
"Atlantic?" He responds, confused. I raise an eyebrow.
"You know, like the ocean."
"Ocean?"
Was this guy clueless?
"Yes, giant bodies of water filled with salt."
He looked confussed. I roll my eyes in frustration. "whatever. It doesn't matter."
"Is that a gang in the underground or something?" The brunette asks Levi. So he was a dwarf! He shakes his head.
"Underground?" I ask. "Is that where the other dwarfs live?" The brunette starts laughing hysterically and Levi looks more annoyed than before.
"Tch. I'm not a dwarf." He says. "And at least I can dress properly." He looks at my old, dirty resewn patched up piece of cloth. We had only what the original clan members 100 years ago wore, over the years we took a sleeve here, and a pant leg there, and sewed together new clothes from the old fabrics.
"well sorry that normal clothes don't last 100 years!" I spat back, folding my arms.
Shock took over all of their faces. "You've been living out here for 100 years?" The blonde, Erwin, finally says. I nod. "Haven't you?" I ask. They all look at each other.
"I think you better come with us." The brunette says, I back away and raise my arrow to her head. "Not without my clan." I say, narrowing my eyes. The rest of my group follow my patterns and and get into their fighting stances.
"No need for that. We won't hurt you. We have walls. Big ones. The titans can't get to you. Come with us and you'll be safe. We can talk to our leaders and ask for a place for you and your clan, but you will have to speak for them. We don't have much time to go get them." Erwin says, hands in the air.
The rest of my hunting group look at me for a response. I look to Foal, he just signs, 'up to you' with his eyes. I've never been in charge before, if I make the wrong decision it could mean certain death for my clan.
Now I look at the three forgieners in front of me, one bleeding heavily from the arrow. If he didn't seek medical help soon he could die. If there really were walls I'm sure a doctor inside could help him. I lower my bow and release my stance to a resting state. "Ok." I take a breath. "We'll go with you."
