Chapter 18: A Turning Point
Six days had passed by in a flash for Fiera. Those six days before the monthly tournament had been full of grueling training and getting her ass kicked just as much as she kicked ass. Her Literature, Elemental History, High Theoretical Strategy, and Humanities professors had all seemed to sense the tension in the classrooms and wisely lightened the workload in preparation for the first monthly tournament.
Fiera took two classes that cut her History and Literature classes in half, so she would have four thirty-minute classes. The fact that Ailana was in both her thirty-minute block classes meant that the heir was taking two subdivision classes as well. She was a first year, so it was no wonder that the girl was taking mandatory extra classes, but since she was in the acceleration program, there were obviously some key issues that the administration had to address. Still, Fiera puzzled over the fact that she would waste time on subdivision classes. Ailana didn't seem the type to take classes for fun, so why would she be wasting time? The Des Moines House definitely had enough power to pull a few strings and make sure the first year would only be taking core subjects, yet Ailana was definitely taking subdivision classes.
Strange.
Either way, Fiera was grateful to her four professors, but not at all to her fifth, an energetic, and frankly rather annoying, ball with an unfortunate last name.
Kayla had made sure to drive all eight of them into the dust with harsh exercises and regimes tailored to each of them specifically. Every Elemental in her class had signed up for the monthly tournament, and she was absolutely determined to make sure that each of them would be up to par.
So not only was Fiera receiving training from her daily sessions with her team, her power control professor was also killing her.
Fiera flopped onto her bed and slowly uncoiled each and every one of her tense muscles. They were warm and spongy from her four-hour workout with her teammates and the hot shower she just took.
Now, there was nothing more to do than to rest.
Fiera closed her eyes, lazily flicking her wrist, sending a gust of wind at the light switch. It immediately switched off, plunging Fiera into darkness. She had drawn her curtains earlier, not wanting anything to wake her up earlier than she had to. Irving, Yves, Reed, Shane, Easton, Wanda, Dana, Victoria, Antoinette, Oliver, Trent, and Fiera were the Elementals who made up Team 1. Irving, Yves, and Reed were the Water Elementals. Shane, Easton, and Wanda were Earth; Dana, Victoria, and Antoinette were Fire; Oliver, Trent, and Fiera were Air Elementals.
