Chapter 2: Awakening
Reed's jaw dropped the moment he stepped into the girl's room. "Holy shit!"
"What is it n-holy shit!" Cole echoed Reed as he stepped around his mate. "Why couldn't I get this room?"
While most compartments on the train were standard-one bunk bed with two beds within it, one closet, a small kitchen area where everything was bolted down, and two desks that were bolted down as well-this girl's room was a full-blown luxury suite. The center room was obviously the bedroom-a queen-sized bed was pressed up against the spacious wall facing the door. It was custom-made, carved out of rich mahogany wood. The four posts supporting the framework of the bed were each carved with a symbol of each element-the upper right was fire, the upper left was air, the lower right was earth, the lower left was water. It was set up in a way that the elements that each were most compatible with were right next to each other while the least compatible ones were set diagonally-the furthest amount of distance possible from each other. The bed sheets were a plain white, the pillowcases light gray. A plush, white fur rug was spread out underneath the bed, stretching from one side of the room to the other. Its width was less-it extended a few inches away from the footboard of the bed before ending.
Two closed-and most likely locked-doors were on both sides of the room, leading to God knows where. Most likely a kitchen, a dining room, a luxurious bathroom, and maybe even a guest bedroom, if the welcoming room wasn't enough indication. Other than the enormous bed and the small round table sat a few feet away from the two boys with a single chair in front of it, there was no other furniture in the main room. For some reason, the lone seat looked...sad.
The rest of the room was plain. No pictures or any sign of self-expression decorated the walls. Nothing but the rug covered the floor. Despite the plush surroundings, the room looked more pathetic than the rooms of the other students.
Reed glanced down at the girl cradled in his arms. His left forearm was braced against her back, supporting her weight-light as she was. His right arm was wrapped around her thighs. He tried not to gaze at her bare legs-her position caused the hem of her nightgown to rest high on her thighs. She had amazingly curvy legs.
Reed shifted his arms slightly, ducking his head in hopes that Cole wouldn't notice his flaming cheeks. What the hell was wrong with him? He never had trouble with girls and their bodies, but within a day, he was...aroused at the sight of not just one but two girls.
Against all his hopes, Cole laughed and walked past his friend, slapping Reed's shoulder along the way. "Don't worry. It's a natural process of life."
Reed's cheeks deepened in color. "Shut up."
Laughing again, Cole dropped into the seat. "Wow. Pretty comfortable. I'm totally asking our girl here if I can crash with her tonight."
Reed snorted, rolling his eyes as he made his way toward the bed. He slid his left arm further away from his right arm, gently supporting her drooping head. Her hair was rough and wild underneath his hand. He admitted to himself that he enjoyed the feeling. "It's against the rules to room with a girl. She may not know, but you as a third year should know. Especially you. You should know better than anyone."
