Agag had managed to get me to my cell, but I have a feeling that some guards are suspicious. I can't imagine how worried Twi and Ligero are right now, but I can't risk contacting them.
Agag has to be as careful as possible when filling me in with what he's found. So far, barely anything. The only information is that the scientists might have discovered a way to erase memories completely about 7 years ago, 4 years before my parents were killed.
I'm snapped out of my thoughts by Agag walking up to my cell, probably to give me more information, but he looks haunted. Horrified. "Agag? What's wrong?" I ask.
He looks at me. His eyes. The deep hazel color have become dark with...regret? "Glace...,"he whispers.
"Agag? Are you okay?"
"I'm-I'm so sorry....," a tear falls down his cheek.
"What do you mean? Why are you sorry?" I ask more curious that ever.
"The reason....the fire...," he pauses for a minute and I freeze at the word fire in relation to the night my parents died,"it's all my fault," he finishes with his voice cracking.
Suddenly, it all clicked. The memory wipe, the fire, Agag. They wiped my memory 4 years before they sent Agag to kill my parents, or simply told him to burn down a house. They wiped my memory. Why? Why is this all about me? How does the general fit into all of this? Wait. The general. Didn't Agag say he lost his wife, his brother and sister-in-law...and had a niece.
Oh, Lord...its me! I'm his niece!
I cover my mouth and break in front of Agag. "Agag?" I whisper.
"Yes?" He whispers back.
"I forgive you, but...the General Walter Alvo? The niece he doesn't talk about? Thats....me."
"What?" Agag asks, surprised.
"It's no coincidence he lost his wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law and has a niece whom he refuses to talk about...," I say and look up to see Agag's reaction.
His eyes are wide with shock and confused like he's putting the pieces together in his head. "That's why he's fascinated with you."
I nod and recall something he said to me. I never understood what he meant by it so I can remember it very clearly. "That's right. You don't remember who I am, or what you've done." I cower in fear just at the memory of what he said.
What have I done? Is it the memory wipe? Does it involve him losing his wife? I have so many answers but so many questions.
"Agag?" I finally ask.
"Yes?"
"I need you to find something out for me."
"Yes, of course. What is it?"
"I need you to find the file on a Sydney Alvo," I state and Agag looks at me questionably.
"Why? Do you know her?"
I grit my teeth then say,"I don't know. I might have."
"Okay, I'll see what I can find."
"Thank you, for everything." I look up at him and smile. He returns it and walks off down the hallway. I let out a sigh and lean up against the wall. Lord help us all, I pray.
______
I am awoken by a sound echoing throughout the hallway and I look to see what it is. It is Agag, slowly walking towards me. He looks...different somehow, but I don't know how."Agag?" I question.
He stares me dead in the eyes and I can tell something is wrong. He doesn't look like himself. The iris of his eyes are smaller and his skin is paler. The same pale color when he was scared to go down the ice slide back when we were leaving Rorath.
"Agag?" I question again,"Agag? What's going on? Are you okay?"
Still nothing, yet he continues walking towards me, slowly. Each step echoes throughout the hallway as he gets closer and closer to me.
"Agag, you're scaring me," I state, my voice wavering.
He makes it to the from of my cell and I back up closer against the wall. Something isn't right. Something is wrong with Agag, I know it, I think to myself.
Agag squats down to my eye level from across the cell and opens his left hand so that there is a big ball of fire in it. Fear immediately coursing through my veins and I freeze.
"Agag?" I attempt to snap him out of whatever kind of a daze he is in.
The ball of fire continues to grow and I never take my eyes off of it. I struggle to break the chains that hold me down, like before. I begin to panic as the fire grows bigger and bigger and bigger.
"Agag?" I say louder.
Nothing. He brings his arm back in preparation to throw the fire at me.
"Agag!" I yell.
He blinks and his eyes are back to normal, his skin changes back and the fire dissipates in his hand. He collapses on the palm of his hands on the floor and begins breathing heavily.
"Agag...what happened? Why were you-," I stop. I don't know what to say, I don't know what to think.
"I-," he starts but then stops again,"I don't know. The last thing I remember is-is heading towards the archives to search for that file. Everything suddenly went black. Just now snapped out of whatever took over me and I was trying to kill-,"he stops again, holding back tears.
"Do you remember anything else?" I ask.
He looks up at me from the ground. It is like before, he looks like he has seen a ghost. So scared. He's trembling. I want to be able to go over and hug him, comfort him, tell him everything is okay that the Lord our God is with him and He will help him. But I can't, not with these stupid chains on.
"No. I-I don't."
We both let out a breath of air and take a moment to calm down before I speak up. "Agag, you should probably get out before-," he cuts me off.
"Right, someone probably heard me," he says, shaking and stands up before waking away.
Now everything that I had questions about before, about my forgotten past, General Alvo, all of it dissipates like that fire did. Now, only one question is in my mind. What just happened?
