The next morning I woke with my head free of fog, my vision was straight and the world stopped spinning. I wasn't dizzy any more. The side effects had worn off. I was regretful that they didn't last longer but I was also glad that they were gone. The smell of food cooking caught my attention and I looked over to the fire to see Corey cooking breakfast next to Quinnie and Zedd. I got up and walked over to them, sitting down next to Corey. "Morning," he said as I sat down. "How'd you sleep?" I yawned. "Well, but not enough." I replied "What about you?" He grinned "Like a rock." We sat in silence for a minute, then Corey passed me a plate of eggs and bacon. "Now how in the world," I began "Did you do this? I can't make 2 minute noodles and you make bacon and eggs here? Here? How?" He just laughed. "I got up ages ago," he explained "I went to shop and bought food, cutlery, pans, kettles, bottled water and some other things. Oh," he added "I also brought two bags, one each." He reached behind him and held up 2 backpacks, one red and one black. I smiled and took the red one. We dug into the bacon and eggs without anymore delay. They were delicious. I was about to complement Corey on his fine cooking skills when he cut me off. "Good job keeping the fire going all through last night." He said to me "I doubt I could have done that, especially after to rounds of shaddow trips. It was cold last night, so the fire kept it away. Id probably be dead if I didn't have you here." I smiled and was about to say something when I felt something grow warm in my pocket. I reached inside and pulled out my stone, which was glowing violently and was hot to the the touch. Suddenly, Zedd and Quinnie started growling and hissing. I felt my breath hitch in my chest. Already? I thought I thought we would have out run them for another day at least! I stood up and put out the fire. I got ready, in what I hoped was a fighting stance, with one foot before the other and my hands out in front of me. Corey stood up, confused. "What did you do that for?" He asked. "What are you doing?" I just stood there, unmoving. I took a deep breath. "The're here." I whispered as the woods exploded and a wave of men came charging at is from the trees.
