Kevin's POV
"A math tutor?" I repeat back to my guidance counselor, who stares back at me unmoved by my attempt to charm my way out of getting extra help in math.
"Kevin it is in your best interest to get a tutor, you need geometry to graduate and you already have a D- and we are only 3 weeks into school."
"Okay I guess, but where am I going to find a tutor? I don't have the money to pay some genius to teach me shapes." I say back to her as one last resort of getting out of a tutor, even she can't argue the financial side of having a full time tutor.
"Well, it looks like you have someone looking out for you because we have an A.P. student who will be getting a credit for teaching you."
"Who is the lucky person that gets to teach a deviant to society like me?" I say half jokingly, half seriously.
"His name is Eddward and he is a senior, just like you." After she stops speaking I am taken back because there is only one Eddward I know of. The universe is obviously working against me because I am going to be tutored by Double-Dufus.
Edd's POV
I can't say that I am shocked I will be tutoring Kevin. He has one of the lowest GPA's in our school and is in a math class that most people take as Sophomores (although I took advanced Geometry in 7th grade.)
Looking down at my phone I see a new text message from Kevin, whom I recently had to add to my contacts.
"Meet you inside the library at 3:30 -Kev", is what the brief message says. According to my watch I had 7 minutes until I had to meet my childhood bully. Quickening my pace I head up the large steps of Peach Creek Public Library, which has been like a second home for me since childhood.
With a deep breath and a little bit of uncertainty I open the doors to face what will be the scariest hour of my life. Scanning the library, it takes me a moment to find out where Kevin chose to sit.
"Salutations, Kevin! I can see you didn't want to be seen with a nerd like me." I say smiling to myself, sitting down in the most secluded table in the library.
"It's not the fact that you are a nerd it's just I am new to the whole getting extra help kinda thing." He finishes leaving a little bit of a sting by agreeing with me being a nerd. Pushing all feelings of the past behind me, I put on a brave face and begin teaching Kevin hoping that this session will go by fast.
Kevin's POV
I have never been so nervous in my life, and I have done some pretty dangerous shit in my 18 years on earth. Here I am sitting across from Edd for the first time since our adolescence.
"Try and review the first few pages of this work book, I think after today's session you will find those problems rather easy." Edd says his face layered with a nervous expression.
"Yeah, okay I think I can manage that dude." I say back hoping to calm him a bit. Moments later I see his face starts to settle and calm to a slight smile.
"Okay well I think you worked hard enough for one day." Edd says offering, me his hand to shake. Being courteous I take his hand and hold it in mine for a brief moment. I can't help but notice how soft and delicate his hand feels against my own-It is a sensation that I have longed for so long.
As he turned away from me, I let out a guttural sound to stop him.
"Hey uhh Edd, do you wanna hang sometime?" I say hoping that I don't sound as desperate as I feel.
"I'd like that." He says, finally leaving me alone in the library with only my racing mind to keep me company.
