Edd's POV
Although it has only been a couple of days since reuniting, the relationship dynamic between Kevin and I has returned to what it was. I cannot help but be vulnerable and give myself entirely to him--despite my feeble, honest effort.
Sitting in the cafeteria, I tune out the stares and murmurs surrounding us. Having lived most of my life under the radar it has taken some getting used to being the center of attention and the topic of discussion.
"Dork, are we still on for tonight?"
"Of course, as long as I don't have to make any hard decisions!" I tease.
"We are watching movies, and ordering pizza Edd--the hardest thing you have to decide tonight is how many slices you want." Kevin retorts, practically gleaming.
Comfortably we allow silence to fill the space between us; quietness is welcomed as just being with him is enough. Holding Kevin's hand, I lose myself in the soft freckles that sporadically adorn his skin. Like every other inch of him, they're perfect.
Kevin's POV
I keep catching myself watching Edd analyze my skin--the way he tactfully gazes and scans my body suggests I am a science experiment rather than his boyfriend. For most this analyzation would be insulting, but to me it's flattery--my man loves science.
"Any new freckles develop?" I ask a bit too forcefully, causing a blush to rise in Edd's cheek.
"Sorry."
"Don't be, count away! Just let me know if you find anything worth-while." This remark seems to relax him a bit and he smiles at me--revealing his toothy smile. His imperfect, perfect smile dazzles me. Something about his tooth gap drives me crazy.
Pulling him closer; I feel him tense slightly to my touch.
"I wish you understood what you do to me, Dork."
"Trust me, the feeling is likewise Kevin." Edd murmurs, settling in against my hard shoulder.
I take note of how many people are staring, like we are some sort of spectacle--Regardless of their opinion on us, I'd take being a happy gay man than a miserable straight one any day.
