Kevin's POV

"Are you hungry?" I ask Edd, his stomach simply growling in response.

"I will take your grumbling stomach as a yes. We are going to a bit of a dive tonight, but its has 4 stars on Yelp." I say smiling, doing my best to impress Edd.

"I am so hungry I could eat a horse. Let's stop at the ATM so I can get some money out for dinner." Edd says.

"No,no,no. Tonight is all on me." I say, wondering if my usual charm will work on him.

"Okay, but next time I will pay."

"Over my dead body." I say with a chuckle, extending my hand for him to take.

"I guess chivalry isn't dead." He replies with a soft smile.

Edd's POV

Walking into the small Italian restaurant, I am met with the satisfying aromas of pastas and garlic. The dim lighting and wine colored walls make the overall ambience reflect a cheesy romance film.

Immediately we are greeted by a cheeky girl with short, spiky hair. Her eyes look us up and down, and then she offers us a warm smile.

"Reservations for Kevin Blakely." Kevin says confidently, squeezing my hand for reassurance.

"Right this way Gentleman." The girl, who's name tag reads "Darla".

Our table is nestled in the back of the restaurant, the view out the window encapsulates the whole Chicagoan night.

"What can I get you boys to drink?" Darla asks, gently handing each of us a menu.

"I will have a diet Coke." Kevin says, his eyes turning to me.

"And I will take a lemon seltzer water." I say softly, keeping myself composed. Without another word Darla turns on her toes and leaves us alone.

"Are you okay Edd, you look kind of anxious."

"I'm fine, I am just a bit overwhelmed by everything." I manage to squeak out, my body starting to relax.

"Is it something I did?" Kevin asks, concern layered in his voice.

"No. It isn't anything that you did. I am just anxious that someone will say something to us. I mean the whole hand holding thing blows any sort of cover we had." I say trying to sound calculated, instead of a coward.

"I am not afraid to be seen with you Edd. I am tired of living a lie, and I just want to be happy. You make me happy." He replies.

"I think I lo---" Before I can finish speaking I am interrupted by Darla, bringing back our drinks.

"Are you boys ready to order?" She asks. Maybe her interrupting me is a sign from the universe that it is too soon to say "love".

Kevin's POV

As Edd takes his first bite of food, I can't help but wonder what he was going to say to me. I swore I heard love, I push these thoughts to the back of my mind.

"How's your food?" I ask, right as Double Dee stuffs his face full of alfredo. In response he simply smiles and gives me a thumbs up.

"This is so fantastic." Edd says after swallowing his first satisfying bite.

"I am glad you like it, I read all the Yelp reviews."

"You really put a lot of thought into this date Kevin." Edd says, his eyes overflowing with emotion.

"It was nothing." I say with a small grin.

"It is something. No one has ever put this much thought into what they do for me."

"That makes me sad Edd. I can't imagine not thinking about you." Without another word Edd leans forward pressing his cheesy lips against mine, a feeling of euphoria overtakes me. The only time I truly feel  like I have a grasp in this universe is when I am with Edd. I never want this night to end.
