Good vs. Evil

Chapter 14

CHASE:

Leo walks in front of Adam and I, explaining God knows what about something that probably has no purpose whatsoever.

When I slow my pace, Adam notices and slows his pace as well, but not Leo (I didn't really want him to, so it's okay) and I look at him. He looks back and we exchange a silent communication.

"What on your mind?" he asks in a hushed voice, seeing that I obviously didn't want Leo to know. "Is it about Bree? Or something else?"

I sigh. "I don't know, Adam. I really don't know. I said I love her, and trust me, I really do, but I don't think she loves me back...at least, not the way I love her. And she's been away for so long, not seeing me and stuff like that..." I trail off, not knowing how to phrase this.

"You think she's moved on?"

"It feels like more than a thought, Adam." I shake my head. "It feels like a fact."

"Well, once we find her, you can talk to her about it, 'kay?"

That's all he's got? Really? "When we find her, you can talk to her." That's more idiotic than anything I've ever heard Adam say before! And I've heard Adam say a lot. I decided to voice my thoughts. "That's all you got?! Gosh darn it, Adam, what the heck?! You're stupider than I thought if that's your answer!" I was screaming at him by now, catching the attention of Leo.

"Now, guys, come on. We don't need to be fighting each other right now. We need to be calm, collected. We need to be a team and not fight. All right?" Leo decides to speak up, trying to intervene between the fight that is bound to happen.

"Leo, butt out," I say in anger. Rage was consuming me and I could feel Spike coming very close to the surface, but I force myself to keep calm. Adam isn't helping me achieve that goal.

"No, Leo, stay in this conversation. In fact, make yourself very prominent." That is the largest word I have ever heard Adam use.

"Do you even know what 'prominent' means, Adam?" I ask. I know I'm being unlike myself at the moment, but I don't care. Adam is getting on my nerves, Leo has no idea what he's talking about, and I think Bree loves someone else.

"Yes, Chase, I do. It means evident. I want Leo to be fully aware and in this conversation," he replies. "And don't get mad at me because you have a complicated love life! You're with a girl that you should not be with and you're trying to hide it from the two people that could actually help you! If you're the smart one in the team, then act like it, because right now you are acting like an immature, spoiled brat!"

I stay silent and ignore him, not wanting to hear what else he has to say.

"Chase! Are you even listening to me? What is going on with you these days?!" Adam screams in my ear, causing my heightened hearing to make my ear start to ring in an unnaturally extensive way. Adam stands in front of me very impatiently, waiting for my answer that I will not give him. "You have five seconds to start talking or I will not hesitate to throw you into oblivion, got it?" Though his voice is calm, I can tell he is trying to hold back on lashing out at me.

"Chase, come on," Leo tries to break through the tension. "Answer his question, or at least speak. Bree would want you to--"

"Shut up." My voice is so full of venom and hatred that even Adam shows the slightest bit of fear in his eyes. Leo quickly closes his mouth. "You don't know what Bree would want, got it? So don't you dare try to calm me down with that." Leo looks down and slowly walks backwards slowly, getting as far away from me as possible.

"All right, Chase-" Adam looks down slightly-"just calm down. We are just trying to help you. No need to put any hatred towards us." Adam takes a slow, cautious step towards me. I look at him threateningly and he puts his hands up in the air, showing he surrenders. Though he slows himself further, he does not stop walking towards me. I shoot another glare at him, but this one is softer than the one before. This one is one that my anger shines, but in a different way. This one has tears at my eyes and my eyes pleading with Adam to help me.

I finally fall to the floor, all the life sucked from me as Adam's brotherly love breaks through his anger towards me and breaks my walls, that have been protecting me since Bree's disappearance, come crashing down.

Adam comes in front of me, helps me up, and then takes me into a strong, loving hug.

"Thanks, Adam," I mumble into his shirt.

"What are brothers for?"

It didn't have much productiveness seeing as it was just the boys fighting and then Chase breaking down but hey, I've got to show that not even bionic people are invincible. They have emotions and, well, honestly, I needed to add a small Chadam moment in there (THIS CHADAM MOMENT IS STRICTLY BROTHERLY AND BROTHERLY ONLY. THE PAIRINGS THAT ARE GOING ON HERE ARE, AS I HAVE MENTIONED BEFORE, MAREE AND BRASE.)
