~Sam's POV~
I got an email on my phone almost right away. It was Miranda.I know you don't know me, but I'm hoping these will help. She had attached some family pictures of all of us. There were a couple from our wedding, some from Christmases, and there were a few of us with her kid. In some of the pictures, her son couldn't have been more than 10. He was such an adorable little kid. I couldn't help the slight tear forming in my eyes at the fact I knew her and this kid, but didn't remember any of it.
I started feeling bad. Something had to have happened. There's no way these photos were faked. I loved Maria, but I was married to Miranda and I couldn't just ditch her. I knew it was wrong. But at the same time, I still couldn't bring myself to believe that I loved her.
Once Maria came home, I told her the whole story. "That's crazy." Maria said, unbelieving.
"I know. I don't know what to do. I know they aren't lying, but I love you." I said. I was so conflicted.
"I don't know what to tell you to do, but if she is really your wife, you can't just leave her. I love you, Sam, but marriage is not something you can just quit on. I'd say just find out as much as you can about really being her husband, and figure it out from there. I'll tell the office you're sick again, and just keep me updated." She said. She was supportive of me figuring this out, but there was a hint of jealousy and anger in her voice.
"Ok. Thanks babe. I know this is a mess."
"It's ok." Maria replied.
~Dean's POV~
"So how are you doing?" I asked. She just shook her head. She wasn't crying anymore but she looked so sad, so hurt. I totally understood why she was so upset and I hated that she had to deal with this. "I'm sorry, Miranda. I don't know how I'm gonna convince him to come back with us. I promised you I'd get him back, but I don't know that I can." I said sadly.
"It's not your fault, Dean. It's just extra hard because I've kind of gotten used to him not being around, and now it's weird that he's back, but not really back if that makes sense. I really don't know how to feel." She said. She didn't sound upset, but more just distraught and confused.
I totally understood what she was feeling. "I get that. We have kind of gotten used to him being gone. Just so you know, I seriously believe he doesn't know what's going on. I think the demons did something and he lost a large chunk of his memory. I can't tell you how you should feel, just know that you are entitled to feel any way you do. Nothing you feel is wrong and I'm here if you ever want to talk, or anything. I'm sorry you're dealing with this." I said as compassionately as I could.
"Thanks." She said before laying down to sleep.
I stayed up at the table on the laptop. I had bought a pack of beer when we landed and I drank some while I worked. A while back, Sam had put a bunch of our lore stuff as electronic files on the computer. I started searching to see if I could find anything to explain how he lost so much of his memory. I sat there for hours, not really paying attention to the fact there was now light shining through the curtains.
"Dean?" She asked concernedly.
"Huh?" I replied.
"How long have you been up?"
"I didn't go to sleep last night. What time is it?" I asked, noticing the light just then.
"It's 8:00 am."
"Oh. Guess I stayed up all night." I said with a chuckle. I was pretty drunk. I could barely focus anymore and I felt like I would pass out.
"Why?" She was genuinely wondering.
