Danica's POV
I was sitting on the small wooden bench, watching my daughter, Audrey, play in the park.
It's been seven years since the whole Bart Bordelon incident, and we're all just living our own separate lives. We haven't even thought about it, and it feels better to just ignore it than bring back the memories of what happened.
Hayes and I ended up getting married, having a daughter, and staying in LA.
Hayes and a few of his friends decided to start a small business called Tucker's, which is a small but successful bar in downtown LA. There are a few other places in California with them, but the first one was in LA.
While he runs the business, I have a job as a photographer. Before we had Audrey, Hayes and I loved to travel together to new and different places. It was apart of the job, too, so it totally worked out.
Some of the guys and Mahogany ended up staying in LA, while the others moved out to other cities and states.
Our dog, Nigel, was laying down on the grass next to the bench.
I looked down at my watch and saw that it was 5:00.
I stood up and grabbed Nigel's collar. I walked over to the playground and told Audrey it was time to go home.
I was exhausted. I had to wake up early and run errands and have been out all day since that. Audrey had to come with me to do those errands so I told her I would take her to the park since she had been so patient and well behaved.
While we were in the car Audrey talked on about what she did at the park and her thoughts about everything going on, and by that I mean anything that popped into her mind.
I was listening but also thinking about what I was going to cook for dinner tonight and other things that a mother would have to worry about.
When we arrived at home I unbuckled Audrey from her carseat and let Nigel out of the car.
I carried Audrey on my hip to the door and walked inside.
The scent of spaghetti filled my nose and I walked to the kitchen to find Hayes cooking dinner.
I set Audrey down and she ran over and hugged Hayes' leg.
I took off Nigel's collar and set it down in the drawer.
I walked over to Hayes and hugged him from behind. I rested my head against his back and closed my eyes.
"Hey babe, how was your day?" He asked "Tiring." I breathed out.
"What did you do?" "I had to get up early, run errands, and take Audrey to the park." "Oh. Dinners will be ready in about ten minutes, so you can lay down on the couch in the mean time " He suggested
"K." I said then kissed him on the cheek.
I walked over and laid down on the couch.
A few minutes later I heard Hayes grabbing plates and stuff so I went ahead and got up to go get Audrey.
I walked past the dining room and Hayes was setting up the table
"Hayes?" "Yeah?" "Do you know where Audrey went?" "Umm, I think she's upstairs.
I walked upstairs to her room and walked in her door.
She was laying on her floor, coloring with crayons in her little Disney Princess coloring book.
"Audrey?" I asked "Yes, mommy?" She looked up at me "You ready to eat?" "Mhm." She set down her crayon and got up.
I picked her up and carried her downstairs.
-
Dinner was normal. We talked about our days, Audrey refused to eat her vegetables, and we obviously ate.
It was 8:30 and I had just put Audrey to bed. I was exhausted and just wanted to lay down.
I went back downstairs to the couch where Hayes was, watching TV.
I laid down across the couch and put my feet in his lap.
"You tired, babe?" "Yep." "Then go to bed." He chucked "No." "Why?" "Because I haven't seen you all day, and I want to lay with you."
"Aww," he said while crawling next to me on the couch and wrapping his arms around me "I like to spend time with you too." He said then kissed my cheek.
After a few minutes in that position my eyes started to feel heavy and I fell asleep.
