"Mommy.. Mommy." I heard Audrey slightly push me "What?" I groaned "Mommy, can we take grandpa back home with us?" She asked.

I turned over on my other side and looked at her "Take grandpa home?" "Mhm." "Back to Los Angeles?" "Yeah." "No, sweetie, grandpa lives here. He can't come and live with us unless he needs to." I yawned while laying my head back down

"Mommy?" She asked again while crawling on top of me "Yes?" "When are we gonna go back home?" "I don't know." I mumbled

"Mommy?" "Hm?" "I'm hungry." "Ok, I'll be up in just a second." I breathed out.

She sat on top of me so she was straddling my side and playing with my straightened hair "Mommy, can you make my hair like yours?" She asked "Maybe one day." "What time is it?" "If I get up and make you breakfast right now, will you stop asking so many questions?" I asked "Yes." I opened my eyes and she had a big smile across her face.

We both walked downstairs and to the kitchen and looked in the pantry for cereal to eat. She picked out Cookie Crisps and I got Lucky Charms.

As I was pouring our bowls, I heard a knock on the door.

"I'll be right back." I said to Audrey then got up to go get the door.

I opened it to see a pair of bright blue eyes and a big smile. Hayes.

I let out a gasp and immediately attacked him with a hug "Hey, babe." He tightly wrapped his arms around me "Hayes, I can't believe you're here." "Yeah, me too. I didn't think I'd be back so soon." He started to rock us back and forth "I missed you so much. The house felt so empty even though it's full of people and Nigel." He chuckled then kissed the top of my head "Well, now we're all here, thank God."

"Daddy!" I heard Audrey scream from behind me. We both released from the hug and I stepped aside so Audrey could run into Hayes' arms.

He picked her up and gave her kisses all over her face, making her giggle and wrap her arms around his neck "I missed you so much, sweetheart." He said while holding her tight, too." "I missed you too, daddy." She rested her head on his shoulder.

I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and Collin appeared from around the corner "Ahh, Hayes, you finally made it." Collin said with a big smile." "Finally– wait, were you two planning this?" I asked "Mhm." He looked down at me with a smile "You guys." I hugged Collin then Hayes.

I heard more footsteps coming down the stairs and my dad came around the corner "Hey, dad." "Hey, guys. Who's this?" He asked with a welcoming smile "Oh, this is my friend, Hayes. He's just here for a while. We work together and it was a good place and time to have a small photo shoot." I hoped he just went with it without question.

"Yeah," he said, hesitantly "Hey, Danica, will you help me with my bags real fast?" He looked down at me "Yeah."

We both walked outside and as soon as the door shut behind us, he started asking questions.

"Is that your dad?" He asked, worried. I let out a sigh "Yes, and I haven't seen him in about seven or eight years and I want this to be as drama free as possible, so for now you are my friend/Colleague." "Ok," he let out a sigh "So I can't kiss you?" He asked "Nope." "No cuddling?" "Nope." "And I can't even be Audrey's dad right now?" I looked back up at him and gave him a sympathetic look. "It's not gonna be for long, I promise." "Well, the truth is eventually gonna come out." He said while opening up the trunk of his car. "I know but there's already so much going on." I whined.

"I just wanna be with you and Audrey." He groaned while pulling me into him by my waist. "Hayes, move. Didn't we come out here to get your bags?" I pushed him away and picked up his bags. "Ok, I see how it is." He said "Ok, good. Now grab your stuff." I said while grabbing his bags and starting to take them inside.

"Woah, woah, woah, woah, wait," he grabbed my forearm. "what's wrong?" He asked "Nothing. I'm fine." "No you're not," He looked me dead in my eyes. "I just got home and you're already upset with me. Talk to me." I let out a sigh and set his bags down.

"I don't know. I'm.. I'm just stressed. A lot's going on right now." "Like what?" He leaned against the car. "Can we please go inside?" I asked "It's just cold." "Ok, but I want to continue this conversation later."
