Husbands Over Flowers

Chapter 8

The next day dawned bright and sunny, so Jihoo was able to drive himself and Jae Ri back to Jan Di and Jun Pyo's house.

"Its strange..." Jihoo muttered as they stepped outside.
"What's strange?" Jae Ri asked.
"If it was such a terrible storm that they had to close the road, why isn't there any trees down? Why does it look the exact same as it did yesterday, except a little wet?"
They turned to look at each other.
"Goo-" Jihoo started.
"Jun-" Jae Ri added.
"Pyo!!" They finished in unison. They both laughed and started home.

"Hey lovebirds, you made it back today! How was your night together?" Jun Pyo said, snickering when they arrived.
Jihoo and Jae Ri had decided to play a prank on Jun Pyo, so as they rehearsed:

"Oh-um-well we...... We have something to tell you and Jan Di." Jae Ri said, blushing and looking at the ground.

"What? Is it serious?" Jun Pyo said, the smile leaving his face.

"Very serious." Jihoo said, leading Jae Ri to the sitting room and sitting down as they waited for Jun Pyo to get Jan Di.
"Is everything all right?" Jan Di asked worriedly.

"Well....everything is alright but....you see....Jihoo? Shall we tell them together?" Jae Ri said, looking up at him. He held her hand.

"You see.....Jae Ri is expecting my child."

"You-you- WHAT?!"

"It was an accident, we didn't mean for this to happen!" Jae Ri said on the verge of tears.

"JIHOO YOU IDIOT!" Jun Pyo said, pulling him up by his collar and shaking him; "HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN TO HER?!"

"Don't worry too much, we're getting married." Jihoo said. Silence fell.

"I must say, its not the best circumstances for a wedding but I'm happy for you two, and I hope you turn out happily ever after." Jan Di spoke up, still looking shocked.

"....At least you're doing the right thing. I'm still disappointed in both of you." Jun Pyo said, looking defeated.

Jae Ri suddenly started giggling.

"This is not a time to be laughing!" Jun Pyo said.

Jihoo joined in, and moments later Jan Di started laughing as well.

"Aish, what is wrong with you people?" Jun Pyo said angrily.

"I'm sorry Yeobo, they called me and I was in on it." Jan Di said, hugging her husband.

"In on what? What do you mean?"

"Jun Pyo Sunbae, I'm not actually with child. I've only known Jihoo for a week, that's not enough time." Jae Ri said, laughing as she stood and walked over to him.

"You-you rascal!" Jun Pyo said laughing, hugging her in relief.

"You, I'm going to keep an eye on you two!" He said, laughing as he sat down.

"There actually is something we should tell you..." Jae Ri said, looking up at Jihoo who put an arm around her waist.

"We are... Together. We're in a relationship together." Jae Ri said, blushing hard.

"Oh, you lovebirds! I will speak at your wedding of how I brought you two together." Jun Pyo said, clapping Jihoo on the shoulder.

"Jae Ri! Oh, I'm so happy for you two, for real this time." Jan Di said, smiling as she hugged her.

After they left, Jae Ri and Jihoo went to change clothes, and went for a walk in the garden.

"That was funny!" Jae Ri said, laughing.

"You're a great actress, Jae Ri-ya." Jihoo said, laughing lightly.

"Thank you Jihoo-ya, you did pretty well yourself." She smiled.

They had reached the middle of the garden, where they had been the day they met.

"...Don't move." Jihoo said, barely more than a whisper. He brushed a strand of hair back from her face, just as he did a week before, and kissed her, like he had tried to a week before, before being stopped by the sprinklers.

"Jihoo?" Jae Ri said as they pulled apart.
"Yes, Jae Ri?"
"Sarangheyo."
He kissed her again in answer.
