" Ok, I've got burgers, sausages, salad, mayo, ketchup, relish, ribs, quiche, veggie burgers, dessert . . . Sue's bringing them, that reminds me I must ring her to tell her to remember them. THAT'S IT! Oh my Christ! The CHICKEN! MIKE! MIKE! GET DOWN HERE I'VE FORGOT THE CHICKEN!"  Jeremy's mum mumbled to herself slowly gaining noise and power.

"God mum, what are you screaming about?" Mike rushed downstairs to a kitchen full of tin foil wrapped food and plastic bowls full of salad and homemade sauces and packets of burgers and sausages, not forgetting the quiche.

"What on earth is going on here, mum?"

"Oh no, It was meant to be a surprise but I just , just . . ." Mike's mum stood their as the sudden thought of what she had revealed dawned on her.

". . . Freaked out?"

"Yeah, it was meant to be a surprise BBQ for you and Jeremy you know moving in together and finishing your exams!"

" Awe mum, you didn't have to do that!" Mike said giving his mum a huge hug.

"Now, will you please-" Mike's mum was cut off.

"I no, I will try and look surprised when we walk in  after the prom."

"No, I didn't mean that, you don't have to look surprised. I just wanted you to go down to ASDA and get some chicken."

"Oh, well sure. I will just get dressed then."

"Thanks, oh and is everything ready with you to move in to Jeremy's because that is kind of the reason why this surprise failed because I expected you to be moved in already?" Mike's mum asked.

" Yeah, the beds are all in, all the sheets are changed, so are the curtains and all of my stuff is in I only stayed at home for the weekend because I wanted to spend some time with you before I left."

"Well that's alright then. . . you will come and visit me when move won't you."

"Course I will! I will always visit you mum," Mike said sensing the sadness in his mums voice. Mike leaned over and embraced his mum before rushing upstairs to get changed. After Mike got changed he grabbed his wallet and his phone and then he kissed his mum goodbye.

"I'm now off. I'll get you the chicken then I will drop it off and go over to Jeremy's because my stuff is over their, then the next time I will see you is at the BBQ tonight."

"Alright then," Mike's mum waved goodbye and then grabbed her phone to ring Sue to remind her to bring the dessert.
