An alarm clock rang waking Mike up at five o'clock in the morning. Jeremy was still asleep and he had no point in getting up but Mike wanted to get up extra early so he could gather himself and prepare himself for the day ahead.
No words were said during this time early in the morning. Mike had a shower to try and refresh himself then he silently got dressed and made some cereal. He purposefully opened a book on a random page and laid it in front of him whilst eating breakfast in case Jeremy woke up and saw him sadly eating in silence all alone and immediately assumed that Mike was slowly deteriorating inside. ( Which he was but Mike didn't want Jeremy to know that.)
What was sad about all this was the fact that Mike was constantly thinking: "If Jeremy was to kill anyone then why didn't he kill his step-father and why did he chose to end his mothers life when we all knew that Jeremy loved his mother more than anyone in the world."
It was quarter to six when Mike had finished eating and he desperately needed something to occupy him whilst Jeremy slept. So he decided to tidy the house and wash the plates until eventually the house was spotless and all that was left for Mike to do was to wait for Jeremy to wake up.
Mike watched TV shows that he absolutely hated with a passion because he knew that no show could possibly be worse than his life right now. He watched 'Desperate Housewives' ' The Only Way Is Essex' and he even watched a few episodes from 'Orange Is The New Black'.
Nine o'clock came around and Mike heard Jeremy crawl out from his bed and open the bathroom door. Mike had been preparing himself for this moment but he could still feel the tears building up in his eyes so he opened a random book on the middle page and began to read a sentence from it.
'It was like my soul mate was being torn away from me and from that moment I knew that life would never be the same.'
Mike immediately felt crap again and he burst into silent tears slumping himself down into the sofa cushions. The toilet chain flushed and Mike heard the taps turn on, he knew that soon Jeremy was going to emerge from the bathroom and see him in a mess. Mike didn't care. He couldn't pull himself off of the sofa, it was like every bone in his body was frozen.
Jeremy slowly opened the bathroom door and he had tears streaming down his blushing face. He ran over to Mike and hugged the hell out of him.
"I've b-been so scared of l-leaving you! I-I really d-don't want to g-go!" Jeremy cried.
Mike so wanted to tell Jeremy that he wasn't going to let him go but he knew that there was no way that he could never make that promise.
"I don't want you to go either! I love you!"
Eleven thirty came and the prison bus arrived outside of Jeremy's home. Mike waked outside to see Jeremy leave and he kissed him one last time before he was taken away.
"Jeremy why did you chose to kill your mother and not your step-father?" Mike asked.
"Because I knew my mother was unhappy with her life and I knew she would never leave that bastard; however, if I were to kill him it would make my mother equally as unhappy as she was when he was alive so I thought why not end her suffering and make him suffer?" Jeremy replied shaking.
"I now see why you did it." Mike said whilst the officer cuffed Jeremy and threw him in the van he then handed Mike a letter and said,
"Visiting is next Thursday at one in the afternoon kid!"
Mike took the letter and said nothing as the truck drove of into the distance.
