Mike went to visit Jeremy in the hospital again today so that he could ask the nurses about when Jeremy would get to come out of hospital. The nurse told him that it would be about another two or three days. This gave Mike more time to investigate the case on Jeremy's mother.
Jeremy loved his mother and would do anything to see her again so Mike had to pull off an excellent party for him. His mum had kindly offered to have it at their house so they could have a BBQ like what they were going to have after the Prom.
The next day Mike got a phone call from the police station asking for a date when Jeremy would be released from hospital so they could have a talk about his mothers death.
"Hello . . . I'm not quite sure but I think it will be in a few days . . . I could bring him up on Thursday . . . okay . . . I will see you there, bye." Mike put down the phone will a large sigh because he knew that this investigation is going to mentally ruin his life if he doesn't find out the truth and he knew that it had already ruined Jeremy's life forever.
Jeremy was taken back to his house on Wednesday and Mike told him that he had to be taken down to the station to be questioned about his mother.
"Don't worry! You're obviously not a suspect all they want to know is what your mothers was like and some friends or enemies and that sort of thing so I wouldn't be worried!"
"Whatever . . ." Jeremy left the table with his cup of tea and sat down on the sofa looking miserable and like the world was crashing down around him, the sad thing is that it kind of was.
Mike drove Jeremy up to the station the next morning and the car was so silent that it was almost scary. Mike tried to make conversation but it just wasn't working.
When they pulled up at the police station they were greeted by a friendly looking fellah who was going to question Jeremy. The guy said that Mike wasn't allowed in with him for safety reasons and they didn't want him to influence him to say something that wasn't necessarily true.
Mike sat in the waiting room for hours while they questioned Jeremy, every second he was thinking about why the step-dad would have killed her and whether the police knew about who did it or not but Mike was 100% sure and his theory wan't changing.
Jeremy walked out of the office looking tired and fed up, Mike gave him his medicine and they drove off in silence once more.
When they arrived home Jeremy and Mike sat on the sofa together watching a movie. When there was a break Jeremy grabbed Mike's arm and told him something.
"M-Mike I h-have to tell you something . . ." He began to well up whilst he handed Mike a slip from the police office. Mike scanned through the letter and couldn't believe how stupid it sounded.
"NO! They can't do this it just isn't true!" Mike said outraged. Mike refused to believe that Jeremy was going to get picked up to go to jail tomorrow.
"I k-killed my mother!" Jeremy cried.
"NO YOU DIDN'T!" Mike shouted.
"I-I did! But I d-didn't mean to!" Jeremy burst into tears. Mike could do nothing but hug Jeremy and weep into his shoulders because they both knew that their lives were going to go downhill from here.
Authors note: Sorry I haven't uploaded in forever but there is only two more chapters until the end of the story and I think this one is a very emotional one so enjoy the rest of the story!
