Chapter 12

     Divine Punishment

"How could you have been so stupid! It is forbidden for us to communicate with anyone on the earth plain or any other plain for that matter. Especially humans! And on top of that you decided to speak with hunters! Murderers of our kind!" Curo shrieked at Decoris and the latter flinched as the loud noise pierced her aching head.

"There was no other choice. Those men were going to hunt her down and kill her. Her mission, our mission, would have been compromised! It isn't just Lupus at stake here! All of us are! If this mission fails we cease to exist. We are as much a part of this as Lupus is." Decoris argued.

"You are both right in your opinions although what you did, Decoris, was forbidden. I cannot just let this encounter slide." The Head Fate interjected. They stood observing the whole ordeal between their children. "Because of what you promised the humans you must answer when they call, but on top of the pain the communication will bring you, another punishment must be put into place."

"I understand, Head Fate."

"Due to the gravity of your new responsibility, your punishment will be received after your mission is complete whether that take days, months, or years. I will not forget your actions today Decoris. Do not think you've gotten off easy."

"Yes, Head Fate. I understand!" Hope swelled in Decoris. She would be able to help Lupus rather than sit idly by and watch! The Head Fate could give her any punishment after it's over. She would never regret her decision. Curo huffed.

"Leave it to your impulsive behavior to give you a punishment and reward at the same time. You better not let anything happen to her or we aren't friends anymore." Curo claimed.

"You sound like a human teenager." Decoris giggled.

"Well watching them for thousands of years makes it hard to not pick up their habits." Curt muttered, but then gave a tired sigh. "Don't scare me like that again. When you passed out you looked like you were dead. It hurts to see you in pain."

"I know, Curo. I'm sorry I wasn't more responsible. I just couldn't sit by and watch all of our efforts go down the drain." Curo understood very well where Decoris was coming from. She herself knew what was at stake.

"You better get back to your humans. You never know when they might need you again." Decoris smiled at her friend and returned to her orb where she saw the four unlikely companions sharing a small motel room fast asleep.

I'm sorry!! I've had hardcore writers block plus I have stories on other profiles that I've been working on instead of this one! I'll try to be more consistent now that I think some of my inspiration is back.
