Kira must have spotted it cause I heard her mutter, "fckin asshole."

I looked away and was headed out when she grabbed my hand. She tugged towards the group. The hell is she doing? Can't she see I don't want to be around that nigga?

"Oh hell no his Drakin ass is going to see what he's missing out on." She fussed while we were on our way.

We were almost there when Heather spotted us. She waved at us as we approached.

"Happy birthday beautiful," Kira said to Melanie.

Melanie brought her into a hug. "Thank you. So who's your pretty friend?"

Kira squinted, "It's Maia."

I gave a stiff wave. But seeing Jace's hand off her waist felt good as hell. It was relieving but I refused to make eye contact with him.

"Oh my Gosh she looks so pretty. Hey Maia," Melanie squealed.

I wanted to respond back hey boyfriend stealin bitch. But a he's not my boyfriend, b it's her birthday and c I'm not about that life.

While everyone talked and caught up I tried my damndest to not look at Jace. Especially when he talked. I from time to time saw his hands wrap and rewrap around her waist.

When she left to entertain other people, I felt better.

"I was like damn we forgot a gift so I gave her my unused wine bottle." Everyone laughed at Kira.

I wish I had her social skills.

Then someone yelled, "Time to serenade happy bday!" Then like sheep everyone filed into the house.

We all stood as close as we could. Looking around my eyes scanned everyone then Jace. He had his arm wrapped around some girl's shoulder, whispering to her.

That's it I'm done.

I told Kira I was going to the bathroom and headed for the front door. While I was leaving I heard the happy birthday song.

Fck this birthday and fck Jace.

I push open the double doors and take in the fresh air. I felt suffocated being in there. All those people happy, and I'm pissed. All I did was be honest with that nigga and look what the fck he does. I don't need anyone like him.

I should've known. I just should've.

I begin down the driveway unsure of where the hell I'm headed. Hell I might just head back home...from wherever the hell I'm at.

"Yo, you out?" Someone asks.

Rolling my eyes, and emotionally drained, I face him, "Yeah, so?"

He scoffs, "You got some nerves."

"Jace I'm done! I'm so damn done. I don't know what you put your other girls through but I refuse to allow you to. I'm sorry okay, I didn't mean to hurt you but damn you're heartless," I snap.

He steps towards me, "Just showin' you how it feels ma...I was tryna make you jealous," he shrugged, "I don't give a fck about nobody in there. All I care about is out here." He takes another step towards me and I step back. I can't with him and these games. They're too much. "Aight, you right I overreacted. But I can't lose you."

This time when he takes a step towards me, I'm frozen. I know I should've ran away but I couldn't. It was like my feet had a mind of their own. Fckin traitors. Jace bit his lower lip as he continued towards me, until he was a few inches in front of me.

"I thought you were different. And then when yo ass go and tell me you wanted to use me." He shook his head. "Hell nah that shit ain't sit right with me. I gotta keep my guard up at all times cause every damn body wanna piece of Dink the money maka...I just thought you were different than all the rest."
