"Aight I'll be out here." Jace said.

I nodded, "I'll be quick. Thanks babe." I gave a quick kiss and got out. I was on my way in when Trey was leaving the house with a guy I've seen before. At school and over here.

Trey's face lit up when he saw me. "Maia...oh uh I forgot to introduce you to my cousin, Malik, and roommate. Also known as pain in the ass."

We all laughed. Malik's dimples showed, "Nice uh introduction. Nice to finally meet you. Trey talke-" Trey bumped his shoulder into him causing him to laugh.

"Alright alright. I would have met you sooner but uh..."

Trey finished, "He has a girlfriend.  That's where he's headed now in my car. Don't get it busted like yours."

Malik fanned him off, "Yeah yeah. I'll see you guys later. Nice meeting you again."

"You, too," I smiled and watched as he headed off.

"Some asshole busted all his Windows, flattened his tires and fcked up the transmission and radiator. He thinks it's his girl's crazy ass ex...so why you here?"

I looked back smiling at Jace to see him staring at us. "To talk with David. Is he here?"

Trey nodded, "Yeah watching tv. I guess I'll see you a little later then?"

"Yeah," I nodded, "thanks for the advice earlier. I really do appreciate your friendship."

"We're basically family. Don't worry about it," he said walking off in the direction of his house.

I turn and make my way in the house. Here goes nothing. When I enter I see David sitting up eating some pizza.

He's so invested on what's going on he doesn't see me. I make my way over and greet him. "Hey David."

He looks from the TV and smiles before muting it. "Hey Maia. I thought you and Kira were out for the weekend."

I nodded, "We are-were-are. I just wanted to talk to you about a few things."

He placed the plate of pizza on the box pizza that sat on the table. "Trey let me know you declined our offer. Look Maia as one parent to a growing teenager, you think you know what's best for you. You're only seventeen years old. I know the things I've done in the past doesn't make me the best judge but I do care for you and your wellbeing. Regardless of if that boy is truly the one or not, you both are young and have a lot of learning to do. So please reconsider this offer. I want you to know what a real family feels like."

To keep myself from crying, I look to the floor a second and collect myself then look at him. He's right and everything in my body was telling me I could trust him.

"I know. That's why I'm here. I've already reconsidered and decided to take you up on that offer."

He smiled real big, "Good. Your mother would be proud of how strong you are. Just like she was."

"I...about my-"

"Dad? Maia? What are you two talking about?" We both look to see Kira entering the house in a long t-shirt and black leggings with her hair in a high ponytail.

I shrugged, "I uh was just telling your dad how I plan on staying for a little while. You don't mind do you? Cause I-"

"Oh my Goodness yes, yes yes! I knew we were meant to be friends. I have so many plans for your room not that tacky white and peach. Come on let's talks."

As we headed up the steps I asked, "What made you come back early?"

Kira shrugs, "Rah Rah and I were in our after sex feels and then he gets this call and he's ranting. Then comes back in the room and says get dressed. Something about some Roscoe. He and Jace took off like mad men."
