I stifle a laugh, while chowing down on my food. Jace just finished telling me how he and Rah Rah became friends. In fifth grade they got Mr. Ace as a teacher and were both the troublemakers. They made that man's life a living hell from what he told me.
I guess those two were meant to be friends. If only Rah Rah wasn't an asshole, I probably would like him. But he is, so fck him.
I swallow my last bit of food and watch as Jace rubs his hands together before pulling his phone out. He texts someone then puts it back down before turning his attention to me. He had this smile, a genuine one, it was refreshing and cute. With his little mustache and all, Jace was definitely a looker. The nigga was cute.
"It was good?" He smirked.
I nodded placing the container beside me, "Yeah thank you...again."
"No problem, one day we gotta get you some Japanese, you'll never look at Chinese again." He grinned, again I nodded, his expression then turned serious, "How come you never smile or laugh? I'm funny as fck so I know it's not me. What's up wit that?"
"Nothing to smile about," I admitted looking to the ground. If he were living my life, he wouldn't have anything to smile or laugh about either. It wasn't fun. It wasn't great. My life wasn't shit.
He grabbed ahold of my chin and gently pulled it so that I was facing him. My chest began heaving up and down quickly and my eyes showed evidence of fear. He was touching me...and that's not what scared me.
Someone giving a damn about me is what scared me. He deserved way better than a friendship from me. I can't give him shit besides sob stories no one cares about.
"Why not?" He asked.
I looked down at his head, feeling my chest still pumping, maybe it was his hands on me. No matter how good he's been to me, I won't ever feel comfortable around a male. Getting the point, he quickly removed his hand.
"Sorry," I whispered.
"You ain't gotta apologize. I shouldn't have touched you without your permission." I stiffly nodded. His phone began buzzing at his leg. He looked away from me, causing me to breathe again. I didn't realize I had held my breath all that time.
He answered. I could see his face wrinkle from irritation. He said a few things and was off the phone. He then looked back to me, "That was Rah Rah..." Jace stood and I followed his lead, "You wanna chilll tomorrow?"
I look back at the house. Here? There was no way.
"I-I can't..." I started.
"At my place then? We get some Japanese this time and watch some movies. You're a puzzle that I wanna figure out," he said smoothly.
My heart skipped a beat. There he go again saying what I wanted to hear.
"Sure..." I then remembered Mercedes housewarming-oh fck me, then I got Kira and this project, "...I have this project with Kira that I need to do..." but she's expecting to come to my place. She can't see this. She'd never talk to me again. "...she can't see this."
"Tell ha come to my place. I'll pick ya both up after school? Is that cool?"
It was cool. It was perfect. It meant I had an excuse to get out of being around this family for an afternoon. That was if they let me.
"Yeah, it's good," I said.
"So that means we chillin right?" He smirked.
"We're chillin..." I replied back.
He laughed before walking off, "Aight coo, cool. I see you tomorrow. Goodnight."
"You, too." I watch as he heads down the walkway and gets into his car. He looks my way one more time before starting his car and heading off.
