Lost (Paul Lahote story)

Swift

My snapped open when I heard my phone ringing. It was 5 in the morning and Paul was already at work. I chose to ignore it, but it kept ringing so I answered it.

"What wrong, Embry?"

"I caught a scent." Was all I had to say to get myself out of bed.

"Nina! Hunter! Get up!" I shouted running down the stairs. "We have to go." II ordered running out the back door with the two trailing behind right after we phased and met up with the pack. Everyone except Paul and Jared were here.

"The scent just vanishes, but It reappears if I keep running after it."

"Alright guys. Since Embry, didn't howl, we have the element of surprise. Leah, Nina, run ahead to the Makkah Reservation. Don't go past the border line. Hunter, Tyler, Seth and Embry, go into Cullen territory, spread out. Jordan run south along the border. The rest of you stay on our land and spread out."

I myself turned around and ran into the Cullen territory going in the same direction as Jordan. I did my best to keep track where the scent came from, but it once again ended. And then mysteriously appeared once again. When I found the start of a new one, it lead past the boarder into our land, straight to Embry's home. They were there, along with his sleeping mother.

I had to be careful and stay silent and unnoticed. So I phased back. I couldn't walk any closer without them catching my scent so I stayed in my place and just listened while I picked up their gifts.
Of course they'd both team up.

"Vince, it's too early, we need to leave. The girl isn't even here yet. Not for a few more months. So, leave the boy alone, wait for the right moment. If you get caught I won't help but replace you."

"I know, i'm just curious about her. She has this strong, beautiful scent that I can't get out of my head. I want her. I need her."

"Vince, she's friends with those mutts and she's basically a Cullen's. If-"

"The Cullen's haven't been here in two years! She might be my mate. The only problem is that she's friends with this mutt."

"Vince, let it go. Let her go. We're here for one reason only. Let's"

"For what?" He laughed. "Vengeance?"

"They killed you brother."

"Don't lecture me on my brother. He was pathetic. It's no wonder my mother kicked him out of the coven."

"How can you be so cruel about your brother? My mate?"

"Oh, come on did you really think i'd help you because the mutts killed my older brother? Your as pathetic as him. I'only here for her."

"Vince please. Stick to the plan. It's only fair that we end all of them, if the mutts die, she'll have no one, it's your only chance to be with her, and I'm going to start with the girl. I'm going to make this kid watch me kill her and then I'm going to kill him myself."

"How about you we get out of here, before you do something you regret. We have to meet Todd at the Campbell River."

That was my que, so I ran towards Jordan to let him now what was going on.

"They're heading north, right now. Jordan run north, and tell everyone else to run this way. Focus on the guy. The girl can teleport and I have to stay in my human form." I explained to him as I ran along his side.

"They know something is up. It's too silent for them. Jordan, you need to howl now!" I ordered and ran faster alongside him. We were already catching up, but the girl was defiantly gone, but he was still here and he suddenly stopped when he caught my scent.
