What could go wrong?

The worst part about being Alpha was when everyone expects the best from you. When they expect greatness and someone to trust. That's the worst part.

They trust me so much that I'm afraid of doing something. I can't just do anything, I have to be perfect and share with them what I know so that they can be in the loop. But I can't let them fall or let them over think it.

I won't tell them or Embry himself anything about what they're planning. But I do want to know when was the woman's mate killed. And most importantly, we can't let anyone new move into La Push.

So as I made my way into my house, I thought about what could happen if I don't tell them. Would they hate me or understanding for being afraid? Or call me a coward. No. If I'm the Alpha, if I'm afraid, they should be more than afraid, they should be wishing they had been killed by the Volturi.

"Hey, are you okay?" I turned to see a concerned Jordan.

"Yeah." I lied turning back to lean against the kitchen counter. I then reached for a coffee much from the cabinet and made some coffee, but it was all to keep him from asking questions and to make it look like I was busy.

"You sure? Because - "

"Jordan, I'm perfectly fine." I gave him a believable smile. "Come on, I want to talk to everyone." I gestured for him to go into the living room.

"Guy's sit down please. This is important." But Hunter came stood next to me which scared me, but I knew they were ready for my word, so it gave me hope for the future. "I'm letting you know that Esme will on our land soon. She's going to expand the house, again."

"Hold on. Just her or will she be working with the others?" Nina stood up.

"As far as I know it will be just her, but I'm pretty sure she will have Jasper helping so that she can finish sooner. Also, I came up with patrol schedules. From 4am - 12pm, it will include Collin, Jordan, Embry and myself.

12pm - 8pm will include Jared, Nina, Paul, Tango and Seth. And from 8pm - 4am, with the rest of you, which is, Hunter, Leah, Quil, Tyler and Brady."

"How long will we be on this schedule? We now have less than two months until school starts."

"Not long, but if it so happens that we don't handle the situation, we would have to change it. Also, as of today, I'm not allowing anyone to come onto our lands until they speak with me and the council, so if you don't recognize someone, bring them in."

"Hold on what do you mean you're not allowing anyone move onto our land? You have to be part of the tribe to live here."

"Or marry someone." Came from Embry himself. It made me think about his mother being from the Makah tribe and how she just relocated while pregnant with him.

"That's exactly what I mean. They are after someone who will eventually move here, and the best choice is to keep them out for the safety of our people. I understand if people in from the area are visiting for the day, but nothing else."

"That's a little harsh."

"Like I said, I'm doing what I have to do. Patrol starts at noon, so eat sleep or whatever you have to do. And we'll be having company later."

I could tell that nothing was making sense to them, that they had a feeling I was hiding something, but I went along with it. They couldn't know the truth because I'm scared. And if I'm scared, they should be trying to hide under a bed.

"Look, like I said they're after someone and I don't know exactly when they'll come back. So we have to be ready. Which means that Hunter, you'll have to work twice as hard and focus. There isn't time for training one on one."
