We made it to some park. I put the bag on my shoulders and climbed up a tree. Billie climbed up next to me.
"Where am I supposed to go?"
Sighing he looked around and sighed some more.
"You know that kid who moved here like two years ago?"
"That kid everyone calls Tre'??"
"Yeah maybe you could stay with him, you can stay with me for a couple days or whenever but Mike should be moving in over the next couple weeks because his mom leaves in a month and a half."
I knew Mike he was nice but awkward he was Billies best guy friend. I barely knew who Tre' was I knew Billie hung out with him and almost once every month I knew he drove up to northern California to see the guy he called his uncle and once a year they went up for a band performance up there.
"Okay Billie, can we go back to your place?" He shook his head and we climbed down and we were off.
When we got there his mom was home early and she was on the phone. Billie asked her if I could stay after she hung up she agreed 100% no questions asked.
She knew about my home life since I could always remember.
One time when I was like in 3rd grade (also the year me and Billie became friends) she knew I wasn't at school anymore she knew something had happened because Billie almost always talked about me and everyday he'd say the same thing and get all sad about it. She so wanted to take me away from that house but she had no power. I was never allowed over after that so I barely met Billies dad once and even after the funeral happened a couple years later I couldn't go I only heard about it and I had to be there for my best friend it was a hard time. That's also when Mike came into the picture. I was mad at him for the longest time for stealing my best friend completely and through that me and Mike became friends we settled so many differences.
I set my stuff in Billies room and put a hoodie on. We were gonna go out to Tre's place to talk to him and I was going to get to know him. Billie started the car in the drive way a beat up old car. We were off and saw Tre' outside in his backyard practicing on the drums. We parked and walked over. "Tre' you remember Thalia?"
He asked once he finished.
"Yeah hey you're his pretty best friend charmed me lady haha"
Billie nuged him a bit. My arms were killing me. "Tre' do you have bandages??"
"Always!"
He ran inside and got them along with a wet cloth. I took off the hood and wiped the burns. It stung. I felt like my whole body was melting. Like I was still stuck in that horrible fire I was trapped in. I sat on one of the chairs out there putting the banages on. I closed my eyes. All I wanted to really do was drown. Drown out everything I knew. My chest was feeling heavy and I could hear the silence around me although Tre' was yet again banging on his drums. I started to drift in and out of conciousness. I was drowning in the floods of my mind. I couldn't do this.
I suddenly snapped out of it as Billie threw something at me. I threw it back.
"Bills I think the aliens exist and they harvested her brain!"
Tre' was walking like a zombie. I rolled my eyes and threw a shoe at him. He tossed it on the roof of the small shed ran over and picked me up tossing me on the trampoline. He climbed on the shed and sat there.
"My shoe!"
I took off my other shoe throwing it at him. He looked around and jumped on the trampoline. I almost fell backwards and jumped on top of Tre'.
"Can I have the shoes??"
He jumped off running inside and came back out without shoes and climbed back on. I got off and climbed up the tree and lay there day dreaming. Billie joined Tre' and I just didn't feel up to it. I didn't feel up to anything anymore I felt limited, tired, not there all of the damn time.
"Thalia come here."
I came down and sat on the wall with them, the sun was going down. It was nice.
"Billie?" I took a deep breath in.
"Yeah?"
"Don't let them take me back please."
"I won't I'll always be here for you."
I began shaking I wouldn't be able to ever not be afraid. I was fucked.
