Ash's POV

Taking slow humane strides, I entered what should be called food heaven. In other words, I walked into school taking my senses down a notch and tried to blend in. Yet that seemed impossible considering I looked flawless compared to everyone. The usual awestruck eyes were on me as I walked through the corridors to find my first lesson which I was almost late to. I couldn’t care less if I was late because it’s not like I was learning something I hadn’t heard before. Going to school seemed like a refresher – one that was unnecessary.

Honestly, I don’t know why I decided to come in to school since I didn’t need to. If I didn’t go to school then people would get suspicious considering my appearance was so... young. Well, it’s not like I mind. I’m forever young; who doesn’t want that? However, I don’t really think that’s why I came back. Something – or someone – drew me to stay. And there she was.

Sweeping my eyes around, I sensed that nobody else was in a close radius. I sped (or normally walked in my case) over to her. “Hello Angel,” I murmured in her ear.

As if on cue, she let out an ear-splitting scream and jumped away from me. I had to try so hard not to explode in laughter and I failed completely. When she heard my laughter, she turned around and burned bright red. She even wore a scowl.

“What’s the matter with you?” She tilted her head forward and let some of her what I was assuming to be natural, unruly curls shroud her face like a curtain.

“No hello back?” I teased with a slight grin.

She laughed before me and I’m pretty certain it was sarcastic. “You want me to say ‘hello’ after you nearly make me shit my pants?”

I shrugged and leaned closer to her. “Were you alright after I left you last night?” I switched topics because I honestly couldn’t think of a charming comeback.

“Yeah,” she said nodding with a small smile. “Thank you again for last night by the way.”

“My pleasure, Angel.” I winked and was about to make a mysterious exit when she called me back.

“Wait.” I turned slowly and saw her staring at her shoes as if they were the most fascinating thing in the world. “You never told me your name.”

Clearing my throat, I took slow steps to her with every word I said, “Curious, are we?” I raised an eyebrow for effect and that sent her blushing.

“Not that curious,” she mumbled still staring at her feet and avoiding my gaze. “It’s polite.”

I wanted to laugh but held it back. “Well I’m not the polite type.” Before she could look up or answer I sped away laughing to my class.

My angel was...something else.

Slowly, third period rolled around and I silently prayed that I could slit someone’s throat. Their pulses were everywhere. Every single bloodstream was calling my name and I had to ignore it. I hated myself for it every second I was in school. I rolled my eyes and sat by my seat not really paying attention to anything or anyone. The more I noticed, the more I wanted to feed. I couldn’t risk people knowing about me.

“No ‘hello’?”

My eyes flitted to the seat beside me and saw sitting there was my angel. I didn’t really know her name and nor did I care. “Hello my Angel,” I said laying the charm on thick – not that I needed to.

Her cheeks flushed a vibrant red and I could tell the blood was rushing in her veins right then. “You know my name’s not Angel, don’t you?”
