"Are you sure you want to stay and watch this Angel?" Ash asked looking up at Rosie who stood over both Ash and also Jessie where they had carefully laid her on the huge double oak framed bed that was situated in Ash's room.
"Yes I am. I'm a big girl I'm sure I can deal with it. Now just save my friend please," Rosie replied, her tone laced with concern for her friend.
"Okay," Ash replied noticing how Rosie averted her gaze whenever he tried to make eye contact with her, choosing to look at her friend whose face was now ashen and whose eyes were flickering as she dreamed what looked to be a terrible nightmare. One of the side-effects of being fed on so much by his despicable excuse for a brother, who had as usual fled whatever mess he had left behind.
"She won't feel anything will she?" Rosie asked worrying her bottom lip and fumbling with the sleeves on her long knitted jumper.
"Seen as though I won't be uhm, biting her," Ash skipped over the word quickly as he knew all of this was knew to Rosie and so didn't want to creep her out any more so than necessary, "No she won't". Ash replied as he knelt down beside Jessie taking care not to wake her in the process.
"T-then how are you going to heal her?" Rosie questioned curiously, taking a small step towards the bed.
"I'm going to let her drink some of my blood, because my blood heals," Ash began. "Remember when I told you I healed you when you were ill?" He said hoping that she would catch on.
"I've drank your blood?" Rosie's eyes widened a little as she tried to digest what she had just been told.
"Yes you have." Ash tread carefully, not quite sure how Rosie was going to react.
"H-have you drank mine? M-my blood?" Rosie stuttered over her words as she finally looked into Ash's eyes
"No!" Ash exclaimed as he jumped up taking both of her hands within his own, stroking the palm of her hands with his thumb as he always did. "I would never do that, and I mean never, without your permission first." Ash spoke softly but with also with conviction in his voice.
"Shouldn't you be saving Jessie?" Rosie said snatching her hands away from his before moving back from him once again.
"Yes, yes I should. I'm sorry." Ash sighed heavily, apologising for not only neglecting to save her friend but also for lying to her for such a long time when he hated to do so with someone he loved so much. He just hoped she knew he meant it for everything.
Ash turned his back to Rosie and knelt beside the huge bed once again, before lifting his wrist up to his mouth, slowly drawing his fangs and biting his wrist. He then proceeded to lift Jessie's head up gently from the pillow, and raised her lips to his wrist, coaxing her mouth open gently as he allowed her to drink from him until her face began to regain its colour and her breathing steadied.
"There we go, you sleep now," Ash said softly as Jessie's eyes flickered open slightly, his soothing words and a little compelling causing her to close her eyes and gain the vital rest she needed to complete the healing process.
"Is she going to be okay now?" Rosie whispered joining Ash on the bed as she watched her close friend sleep blissfully.
"With the right amount of rest she should be out of the woods very soon," Ash replied his fangs still out as he spoke, as he hadn't had time to retract them before Rosie had sat down.
"Can I touch them?" Rosie asked shyly.
"W-what?" Ash stuttered very uncharacteristically for him, her question catching him off guard completely.
