“Do you think that Hanna should really be with Draco?” Beth asked me on our way back to our dorms, “I mean I just want to know your opinion.”
I gave her a funny look. “I don’t really know Draco. Juts the rumors that are spread about him. Why?”
“Well, I heard a rumor that he hit Pansy. Do you think it’s true? He could be a danger to our delicate Hanna, don’t you think?”
“Well, I don’t know if that is true or not, but I think Hanna can take care of herself. We need to let her fly solo on this one. Don’t you think?” I asked even though I was beginning to get worried myself, “I mean, what about how she handled Robbie on the rain ride over here? That was just amazing.”
“I see what you mean, but I’m not sure that we need to totally back out. She is our friend.”
I sighed. “I guess you’re right, so all we need to find out is if the rumor is true. Then we’ll back out.”
“How are we going to go about this though?” she asked, turning the doorknob to hers and Kat’s room.
“I dunno, but nothing drastic. I’ll talk to you later about it,” I said, peeling off for mine and Hanna’s room.
She’s in there, sitting on her bed going through her notes. I smile at her. She’s always so cute and innocent, not to mention hard working. She even made copies of the notes of the classes that we have together because she knows that I won’t even bother taking the notes. She’s my savior. Ha!
“Hey, Bell,” she sighed, “You know, I’m thinking about not taking notes for you anymore,” she laughed and passed me a small stack of papers.
I smirked at her. “How would I ever pass then?” I said, taking the papers, “So, how’s the whole Draco thing going?”
“Did you hear that he and Pansy are no longer together? That just makes this a whole lot easier. I can’t keep resisting the urge to kiss him forever. Bad news though, I’m tutoring Pansy in Ancient Runes now. So, when she finds out, it’s going to be a huge mess because she wants to get back together with him.”
“Wow. Are you sure you want to continue this?” I laughed.
She nodded. “Of course. I have a feeling that it’s going to be worth it.”
I smiled at her. I loved how she was always so optimistic. It sure made being friends with her easy. We both were startled by a knocking on the door. I got up and answered to see Lavender Brown standing there with a tear streaked face.
“What’s up, Lavender?” I asked, not wanting her to come inside.
“It’s about Gregory,” she mentioned my boyfriend’s name, so I waved her inside and she sat down on my bed, “I promised not to tell you this, but I feel that I have an obligation to tell you now that it’s over and he’s set his sights on someone else.”
I glanced over at Hanna before focusing again on her, “What do you mean?”
“I’ve been sleeping with Gregory behind your back for the past year. I know it was wrong, but I truly believed that I was in love with him and that he was in love with me, but that changed just a few short hours ago.”
My mouth dropped. My Gregory was cheating on me? Yeah, we fought a lot, but we had a lot of good going for us as well. My fists then clenched as she continued.
“He broke it off with me today, telling me that I wasn’t right for him. That most of all it was wrong to cheat on you, so I understood, but I caught him snogging Parvati Patil just a moment ago. He’s cheating on you again!”
“Thank you for your honesty, Lavender. Excuse me, ladies,” I said, stomping out of the room.
I found Gregory in the common room with Robbie. They were laughing, and Robbie’s eyes got wide when he saw me and stumbled out of his chair.
“I’m going to go. Good luck, mate!” he called over his shoulder.
“Bella,” he said with a smile on his face, a fake smile that is.
I put my hands on my hips and tapped the tip of my toes on the floor. “Is it true?”
He lost his smile. “What is true?”
“That you’ve been sneaking around with Lavender Brown behind my back for the past year!” I yelled and someone walked into the common room and stared at me, “This is not a show! Get out of here! Gregory!”
“Who told you this?”
“It’s true then,” I said, turning my back.
“Bella!”
I turned and slapped him across the face since he had made his way over to me. “Don’t you dare try to lie to me! I know when you lie. It’s the truth isn’t it?”
He slowly nodded. “I love you, Bells.”
I shook my head. “No, you don’t. Not enough anyway.”
And I left the room before he could see my tears. I wanted to just crawl in a hole and die. I never would’ve thought that Gregory would cheat on me. Our last fight before that night was about how I never spent enough time with him. Did he do this because he truly believed that?
I decided to go to the courtyard. I never went there of my own accord. Hanna had dragged me there a few times, mainly after her and Robbie broke up. It would be a nice quiet place where I could be alone, but when I sat down on the bench, I didn’t sit on the bench. I sat down on someone. I got up and tried to wipe away the tears.
“I’m so sorry!” I said and made to leave, but he caught my wrist.
“Don’t go. I could use someone to talk to. Please?” he asked.
I looked into his deep brown eyes and instantly nodded yes. “I’m Bella.”
He smiled. “I’m Blaise.”
